I got to looking around at bumpers. I'm still undecided on the front. I want something like this
http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...0725001939.jpg I may be buying a bumper from a board member though. Will put up pics and update when I get a new phone. I think my next small project while I'm still saving for an exhaust system is painting my mirrors black. What do you guys think? |
sweet looking truck in the pic. Also that front bumper looks awesome I would love something like that on our 89 F350.

I say do it. I plasti dipped mine black and have been pretty happy so far. |
I think I will do it tomorrow. I think I have some paint left from when I did my grille. Should look sweet.
After I get my exhaust done, I'll focus on getting the truck looking pretty. Here is my list for it as far as looks go. Turtle Wax "Color Back", Nu Shine Polish, and wax to make it shine Paint door mirrors black Red LED Spyder tail light bulbs http://www.motorfiend.com/images/thu...ts_322_322.jpg Orange LED front corner light bulbs http://i.ebayimg.com/t/2pc-3157-Ambe...N2!~~60_35.JPG Ranch Hand rear bumper Winch bumper for front Blue Headlight bulbs http://a248.e.akamai.net/origin-cdn....3155212-2T.jpg Tinted windows Updated stereo Spray in bed liner Chrome wheels Mud tires Camo seat covers Camo interior and headliner http://www.collinsinterior.com/images/huntingtrlg1.jpg |
My phone came back to life! How it managed that I don't know. Put it in a bowl of rice for 24 hours and it came on, but the screen was unresponsive so I couldn't type in my password. Then I picked it up today and it works again! Kinda weird. I put every photo I had on photobucket just in case it decides to crash again.
Here is my tail lights blacked out. P.S., the thing on the bottom is my reflection. My camera lens was dusty, not the lights. http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/...022_133042.jpg I also had to jack up the motor to install the headers. Here is a pic of what I did. Totally safe right? http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/...022_140452.jpg I plan to get the mirrors painted on Monday. Tips, compliments, suggestions, and ideas are appreciated! |
Congrats on getting the phone working. I like the tail lights. Did you use nightshades? I've been considering doing that to mine.

I removed the grille and taped off the ford emblem. I used a regular satin black paint and it said it would bond to plastic. A little paint got on the emblem in a spot that I missed. It'll probably come off with some paint thinner. The one thing I wish I would have done is look at the back of the grille before I painted it. There was two studs sticking out of the back of the emblem with a nut on them. I will probably take it out when I get back home and see if I can get off the overspray. Will post pics of the corner lights and grille painted and installed. |
That bumper and that interior looks bad ass

Looks good Ty. I personally think that tinted lights don't always come out good but your came out nice.

Looks great! The only thing I'd change on the wish list is those blue headlight bulbs. Those, and even the SilverStars suck in the rain.
I've had great luck with Sylvania XtraVision bulbs, and also GE Nighthawk bulbs. Some of those, a headlight relay harness, and headlight polishing will make a world of difference. |
I agree with Collin (bigblockf350) that spray in liner paint would look sweet. Personally I have never liked painted mirrors but hey its your truck.

http://i1112.photobucket.com/albums/...022_140452.jpg The pan looks really greasy/oily. Does it leak badly? |
I only had one run on the tail lights but I will sand them down smooth and put on a light coat. Gonna be sweet!
I'm thinking about having a welder friend of mine make me a custom bumper. The only place I have found so far that even sells front bumpers for these trucks is broncoair and they are pricey. I will keep picking through the junkyards but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Do it. Honestly with the condition of the whole truck (dents, dings, missing paint) you could consider doing the whole thing matte black or bed liner. I think it would look pretty badass. Especially if you're planning any lift and/or wider tires.

Trav I am thinking about patriot blue http://1.1.1.1/bmi/www.buckstop.biz/...iot-Blue_l.jpg Bob, aren't the brand of lights I'm getting. The pic was for an example. My bad for not saying that earlier. But the ra those in, PSHHH. In Lubbock? Rain is scarce at best here. When it rains we sit on the porch and watch. |
That sounds like a great idea. painting it that is. As for the flatbed make sure the truck is a regular truck 80-96 and not a cab and chassis 80-96 as the frames are different. As far as colors it is all your choice and I won't be much of a help as I personally will tell a lot of people white as I like white trucks. Also I have 2 89 flatbeds so if you want I can post pics of them so you can get an idea. Only if you want of course. You have seen the 89 F350 crew cabs but not the other 89 f250.
So did you get that ranch hand rear bumper or not I am slightly confused sorry. Trav |
