I also just installed some NOS Federal Mogul 552 turn signal relays. They're quieter than the old ones :( but they're supposed to be heavy duty. They sure click a lot faster than the old ones. At least I know they won't be failing for a long time. I put the old ones in my tool bag behind the seat.

Got ambitious and unloaded the 86 F150, I brought up from NC,off the trailer. Now to find a place to put it. The backhoe sure is handy.

Bought a new distributor, cap, and cap adaptor today.

Then I managed to crack the POS Chinese replacement adapter because it was deformed. No amount of filing or heating up helped get it on. Mr. Mallet is who finally made it budge, and of course it just decided to crack.

So next time I have a day off I'm gonna see if I can locate an OEM one somewhere. Need to find out if I can use an adapter from a 302 or 300, but I have a feeling they're different. Not sure if I can find a 460 anywhere locally.

Does this help, Shaun?

Yes it does. By that, I'm assuming that my adapter base has to come from an early bullnose that doesn't have EEC. And of course, most of the ones in the junkyard have EEC. :-roll

Or a 351HO. Or something w/a GVWR above 8600 lbs.

Didn't think of that. And some of those part numbers are lacking a T for the third digit, which means I could possibly source these parts from a car and not just a truck. Of course, my favorite junkyard doesn't have non-EEC cars.

I'm gonna check Ebay and NPD and see what they have for NOS. I'll check Ford too, just in case.

The Cummins swap has him confused! I guess he isn't counting Fummins trucks.

Personally, I hate that term. If a ford with a cummins engine is called a fummins, why aren't dodge's called dummins?

I just consider it as putting a real engine, in a real truck, where it should have been all along.......

I wouldn't much care what name it had on it. It's the durability and simplicity that I am after.
Caterpillar is another name that is rather odd, yet they build some rather impressive engines and equipment........

Glad i got and old truck I can work on in a parking lot with a screwdriver and socket set.

I second that!

Even after I am done with the engine swap, I'll still have a truck I can work on without needing a diagnostic computer to pinpoint the issue.

I have a couple OBD-II compliant vehicles. Sure, they're nice to drive, but a royal pain to work on, since almost every item is controlled by an electronic doo-dad......
