Thanks. I plan to add a spray in bed liner, but that will have to wait until I get a few more things done.

I am going to order the straight pipes for the exhaust, take it to an exhaust shop, and have it on the road soon!

I had my first setback though. I will have to wait a while on the ranch hand bumper so I can have my exhaust system installed. I really hope it doesn't sell before I get some cash together to buy it after I get my exhaust installed.

I have glass packs on my rig also and I want either mufflers or just cut them off and straight pipe also lol, so I took my bed liner out yesterday after reading this and found out my father in law use to have a gooseneck there's a giant hole in the bed haha

Thanks my fellow redneck!

I hope to have my exhaust system completely finished next week. Might be getting the ranch hand bumper this afternoon. I will let you guys know if I get it.

My new turbo muffler and locks came today!

I also intend on buying some translucent lens paint to black out my tail lights and the orange corner lights. I will post pics and a review of it if anybody is interested.

I appreciate any and all suggestions and ideas. There is a lot of great ideas floating around here!

No problem Tye.

LMC has several cowl hoods for these trucks though they are all "rearward" facing openings.

Actually those cowl hoods are for 80-86 Fords and 92-96 F150 and 92-97 F250 and F350s. The body style in 87-91 there is none. Trust me I have even asked LMC truck tons of times why they don't make one and they just say nobody wants one on the 87-91 trucks.

I stand corrected. I was looking through the catalog the other day and saw the hoods in there, but did not look closely enough to see exactly what years they were offered for. Apologies.

Had some stuff come up today and didn't get squat done. My plan was to have my headers on by the end of today and go to the exhaust shop with a plan by the end of next week. Hopefully I can get some stuff done tomorrow. A Chilton manual is also on the shopping list.

One thing I have learned is never say never. When I sold my 87 F150, I let the Chilton manual go with it. I was going to buy a Cummins with the money. I said to myself "I am never going to buy another brick nose Ford!" Here I am on my third one!

mystery inc no problem on the mistake.
Tye we currently have 3 bricknoses and personally I am more of an obs guy but these bricknoses I have a weak spot for. Also your 87 F150 has the same name has my personal 88 F150 4x4 reg cab long bed 302 C6 trans.

I was actually going to buy an obs powerstroke but the deal fell through and I bought the 87.

I'm flattered that you named your truck after mine. :D

That's funny I wasn't suppose to end up with my 88 F150 I was originally looking at a 95 Chevy 4x4 Z71 5.3L or 5.7L vortec extended cab truck but the deal didn't go through also so I always liked this run down 88 F150 sitting around and my dad bought it for me for a birthday present about 4 years ago or so.

I looked under my truck and noticed this lift block. Is it factory or has my truck been lifted?

Our 89 F350 has one like that under the truck and it is stock as far as I know so I would guess it is stock. But ours looks smaller that could be because ours is 2wd though.

That's a factory block. Should be 3".

BigBlockF350 10-22-2013 03:06 PM

As Bob says, those are stock blocks on the rear axle. Lift blocks on an F-350 are usually about 5"

BigBlockF350 10-22-2013 03:06 PM

Are you planning any lift?

If memory serves, I can clear 33 inch tires now at stock height. I am considering ordering a set of 2 inch blocks and some longer u-bolts to accomodate 35s.

A LOT happened today...

I installed both of my headers. Took less than half an hour to get out the bolts. It was the wiggling and getting things out of the way that took 6 hours! Unplugging a ton of wires, removing spark plug wires (yes, I marked them to keep the firing order right), maneuvering the egr tube out, and all kinds of stuff. I got all but the last 3 bolts in before I ran out of daylight.

I also painted my grille black and tinted my tail lights. The tail lights were installed, the grille is drying over night and it looks SWEET!

I was going to put some money together and take my truck to the exhaust shop next week. Then it happened. My phone got jumpy and went for a swim. The phone with all my pics on it (almost 2000), the phone numbers of all the people I do business with, the camera I've been using to document this build, EVERYTHING. This is a big set back. I use my phone to do business, order truck parts, and make money.

Today was going great until I was bit in the face by a poisonous snake of failure :-X15:-X16

Redneckfordf2502002 10-23-2013 09:41 AM

sounds great that you got all that work done. To bad about the phone that is probably why I leave my phone in my boot when I bring it with me. LOL
