I replaced my battery tray with a new one, it didn’t quite fit, as in all of the bolt hole didn’t line up perfectly, but you can see where it was an improvement over the lacey-looking thing it replaced. It came painted black and was nice and shiny, but I painted over that with some Rustoleom bed liner spray. There was obviously some corrosion on the bolts that held in the old tray, and naturally there was that one bolt that would not come out. 😤 So that stopped me cold until I got this Topec Impact Bolt & Nut Remover Set 13 Pieces from Amazon. They worked like a charm,if you don’t have a set like this, you are missing out. I had put some PB Blaster on the bolt in question and let it soak, the bolt head was corroded enough that I could not get either a 1/2” or a 12mm to work, or anything else. I got the Topecs and put the 12mm one on my ratchet and pressing straight down was able to back that bolt out after a bit of resistance. After I put the replacement bolts in I sprayed over the top of them with the bed liner. I also sprayed the inner fender under the battery tray with rust converter. Now with a new battery clamp and tray I don’t have to worry about the battery being damaged. 🤠

The bolt near the inner fender wall was the culprit.

I did the same when I replaced my battery tray. (Bed liner) I did have to patch the cancer underneath.

Yesterday we trimmed and fit the drivers side flooring and rebuilt the carburetor. Hopefully that fixes the overflowing of gas.

Today we trimmed and fit the passenger side flooring.

I think with a little heat and use the flooring will smooth out.

We also made a new headliner out of some hardboard. The replacement we bought must have been just a tad undersized because it started slipping out from under the trim pieces. Cut the new one slightly larger. We will install it when we finish with some cancer repair on cap top on drivers side.

Flooring is about 90% finished. Still have to trim/fit around shift boots. And take care of excess speaker wire behind seat.

I was running some errands and my right rear wheel was making a grinding sound when I applied the brakes.
I had just replaced the caliper and pads about 6 weeks ago but did not replace the rotor, I new it was bad but didn't change it.
When I went to park there was a loud clunk sound from the right real wheel. When I started to drive away the wheel was locked up but broke free quickly.
When I got home I jacked it up and removed the tire nd then the caliper, the inside pad was shattered and one of the pistons was worn from rubbing to rotor. I pulled the rotor off and the inside disc was worn very thin. I found out what had made the clunk sound and why the wheel had locked up.
The emergency brake, which is drum brake pads, one of them had broken loose and was pulled down against the axle and held there by the springs.
It was pressed against the back of the lug nut studs. When it broke loose and I drove home. It had wore a 1/2 moon cut out of the drum brake
This is what I get for not replacing the rotor the first time.
I installed a new rotor, new caliper and new pads.
Now its working great.
Expensive lesson.

Pulled the engine and transmission, dropped the tranny off at the local Aamco to be rebuilt. Disassembled the engine and prepped it for the machine shop, dropping it off tomorrow. Now I have an engine bay and a number of parts that need cleaned, along with a list for the parts store before the engine and tranny are ready. Rad has already been flushed and painted.

Thank you for the clean engine bay shots. I use them at my inlaws when I'm working on mine. It was a farm truck so lots of things are rigged up to keep the truck going rather than permanent fixes.

No time as good as the 4th for pulling valve covers for a clean and new gaskets. I was happy to see the rocker assembly looks like it's in good shape.

Tearing down parts truck...

Started this morning tearing apart the parts truck. Got the hood, front bumper, front clip and doors removed. Then removed the dash, seat, steering column, pedals, power steering, booster and master cylinder and the complete a/c system. Got quite a bit done.

Getting things ready to pull the motor in a few weeks. Go the radiator, exhaust and drive shafts pulled today. Just gotta figure out how to remove that bearing now.

Spent the morning wrasslin' with the grinder and cordless drill, and finally managed to remove the rubbish aluminum chequerplate tray and toolbox.
The amount of cheap hardware machine screws with the square nuts was infuriating. What made it worse, was that they had been driven into the steel frame, and rusted in.

Now I'll need to clean up the frame, maybe give it a coat of chassis black, then choose a new top.

Chucked on her new plates for good measure............. quite fitting, don't you think. :-X04
