Gave the Lone Ranger a bath and "yard Spa" treatment! Also pulled the spare 390 out of the bed after almost 2 years.

Finally got my headlights working correctly with the relay kit. Man did the P.O. hack that one up. I ended up buying some used harnesses and changing both sides. Not sure what all the splicing was about???? It should have been plug and play, just as I thought. I also re-wired the MSD that he installed, I am trying to figure this out. Everything is there and it runs, just a rats nest of wires. Must have pulled out 10 feet of extra out already, with at least another 50 feet more to go.......... If you are clueless or just not 100% sure, please, please, please don't try to play with wiring.....

Just thought of this:

Please do not re-wire for a fire:-fire

I drove mine about 70 miles. I wasn't wanting to drive it because it was supposed to snow tonight, but my beater is dying. The weather stayed dry until right before I came home, and most of the roads were still dry. Since I've been home, I've been hearing some freezing rain coming down.
Hoping to buy another Corolla here in the next few days...

Fabbed up some new ground/hot/starter cables. Ones on the 77 are pretty much toast, corroded and has a ton of bare wire showing. Still in the parts buying process, but hope to make some progress this week if I can get things ironed out in time.

Might even drive it, if things go right.

Got some parts for it!

I went to the junkyard looking for an OEM starter for my Mustang and a set of Ford Mag Wheel lug nuts, so I can put my slots on my truck. I also wanted a set of Chrome 1980s center caps, so I can paint the chrome part black, and put them on my truck and keep the originals (which aren't in the greatest condition anyway) in the house.
I didn't find a set of lug nuts because some dickhead went through and took nearly every lug nut of of every truck! Some of them had one lone nut securing the wheel. The center caps which were there were all hanging on by a single screw which was seized into the rims... I started to remove a full set of caps and lug nuts off of an OBS there last year, but began feeling sick in the heat, and gave up a went home with the parts I had already pulled... (Uphill to the office with a heavily parts-laden wheelbarrow - I barely made it there, let alone to my car)

The yard I went to was Bessler's in Kentucky which is usually a rather decent yard, but today it looked like the city-slicker's pull-it yard in the city of Cincinnati. But the thing that sucks about that place is that it's hilly, and topped with large gravel which can be very difficult to walk on.

It turns out that they have a Dent there. It's a 4WD F100 longbed with what looked to be a 351M or 400. The intake and valve covers were gone, but I noticed that the valve spring keepers said Crower on them, (!) and the block and heads looked freshly painted. I hate seeing vehicles in the junkyard which have obviously had a lot of money recently poured into them.
The non-AC dash bezel was still there, and had been cut for a DIN radio, so I grabbed it. It also has a couple of holes drilled in it all the way on the left, under the Ford 'star' logo, as well as having been painted black, but I can Bondo the holes, repaint it in black and repaint the silver band around the perimeter of it. And then I will be able to move my stereo from under the dash to in the dash. I also grabbed the turn signal switch stalk, as it is less pitted than the one on my truck!

I did find a mini-starter on an OBS truck with an automatic and a 5.0, so that should fit my Stang, and if not, I can use hopefully all of its parts to rebuild the junk-ass Autozone mini-starter which I have on there now.

They have a '74 Maverick 4 door there too, along with a Fox body Fairmont, Granada, or LTD, wagon.

And today I installed the new gauge bezel in my dash. But first, I had to clean off the black paint on the indicators for the headlight and wiper switches.

It's pretty easy to get the little 'light housing' off of the back of the bezel. I got it apart and was glad to see that the printing is on the back side of the clear plastic, so it wasn't affected by the paint. I simply took a knife and scraped away the black paint until it was gone. Then I put it back together and went out and put it in the truck, in addition to moving my Kenwood shaft-mount AM/FM/cassette, from hanging under my ashtray, to the stock location under the heater controls. The only problem is that the faceplate/surround I planned to use doesn't fit the radio, so there are some exposed areas around the knobs, until I can get something suitable to surround the radio.
It's nice to not have anything hanging under the dash, although I'd maybe add some good mechanical gauges there - of course while keeping my factory gauges functioning...

Replaced the rear differential fluid. Glad i did, too, found it was probably a quart low with the old fluid and it had bubbles so it had started frothing some. Rear sounds great now, no weird clunking pulling into my driveway

Heated the garage up with a propane heater and installed a new driver door gasket, even with the blower set to high cranking out as much heat as possible, it was still was tough to work. Just getting impatient for spring. Next weekend shocks.

Set up the 2150 i glassbeaded and rebuilt and took her for a spin. Last week i installed hearthrob duals w/glasspacks. Sounds great and carb working like its supposed to (accelerator pump was stuck since i got the truck and everything was all gummed up and cruddy). Man i thought it ran good before! WAY better now!

Changed the passenger side valve cover gasket, was leaking near the rear (460 engine)

Looks like the drivers side is leaking a small amount too, but that's much harder to get all the bolts, I'll save that for another day.

Put dielectric grease also on the plug boots on the passenger side while I was in there

Finished up my brake line replacement that I started last weekend, nicopp replacing all of the steel lines. Nicopp is great to work with! All new rubber brake flex hoses as well. Replaced all 4 shocks and rebuilt the rear sway bar links with new bushings right before it started to rain.
