Rims n tires
I replaced the original red 16.5/8 luggers that had dried out tires and really nice undented hubcaps with freshly painted gloss black 16x7s, new 265/75-16 Bridgestone revo 3s, nice ss center caps from etrailer and ss nuts from eBay. Only did the two backs because one of the 16s I nicely painted was too bent to balance and the other was too pitted to look decent (that'll be the spare). Got two really nice rims from a dude near where I work the other night that are drying now gonna bring to get mounted n balanced tomorrow hopefully. Gonna look awesome!

My son started welding in the patch for the driver's side... and of course we ran out of shielding gas. Oh well weather looks tolerable for the first part of this week.

Finally finished the floor pans. Primed, seam sealed, first coat of bed liner in whole floor. Hopefully tomorrow is dry enough for a second coat and maybe start on the transmission hump.

Over Christmas Break which officially ends tonight, my son and I:
Next up:
FYI the MC to Prop. Valve lines available from JBG for the Bronco will work on the 78 F150 with minor adjustments. The bends below the frame clamp (near steering shaft) match. I had to tighten and stretch the coils a little to get the correct height up to the MC. I'll try to get some better pictures in the daylight. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...770305f052.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...1351a4e454.jpg |
Mock fitted the Dana 70 disc brake conversion for 16'' steel (a.k.a. coin) dually rims, and bingo, everything will work 100%. :-X03

Buried it under snow:

Underneath is where my dashboard sits after not hanging up anymore. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...60a0471fbe.png The roof is still mostly attached, the left fender is still hanging on the rear wall. :) https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...8cd9296b2c.png Here is more of the sagging roof, some bent wooden supports, and my mudflaps. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...0f03fc2fbb.png This is a closeup of a damaged rafter pipe. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...6a208a7ea3.png Looking back down the right side.. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...e2a8e910b4.png .. and up at the roof again. I'll start working on my garage now instead of my truck. She might get done someday. :-huh |

I'll definitely do a detailed thread, but maybe only in late February. The machine shop is making my final goodies which will enable me to permanently fit the left side this week. The calipers etc are now primed and will be painted tomorrow. I need to take photos of the rotor and custom studs, but can only do that when I strip the right side, which will be in mid February after a vacation. I'll also do a thread on the combination valve following interesting observations. @ F14GE, brilliant pictures, scary, but brilliant. :'( |
Haven't done much to my 76 lately, reassembled the front end with new bits. Stumbled across a 77 that my buddy is selling, and snagged that up. Think I'm going to take a real hard look at which rig I should keep, and part out the other. The 77 has a better body and less wear, but the 76 has been running/driving recently so it's still a toss up.
If that 400 in the 77 isn't frozen up, it may just win the contest! |
Getting there
My recent acquisition (78 F-250 4x4) to enable me to give my 76 F-250 Ranger SC some well deserved time off. "I'm just going to get it running and drive it" was the idea to start with. Did I? Nooooooo. Just had to get a little (lot) more involved than originally planned. Oh well, the 76 has waited this long....

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...b6818399af.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...ae853db14f.jpg Past long holiday weekend was able to accomplish: (a) Installation of the lower steering column bearing (obtained from Ryan at "Blue Top"), (b) Installation of the OEM sliding Fog Light switch and (c) Installation of the OEM wire loom located on the cowl, inside the engine bay (obtained from fellow forum member, Brother Rich 77 and 79 F250). |
Moved the truck from sitting in the driveway for 9 months to taking up my garage. Hopefully it wont be sitting in the garage that long.

I found a piece of debris in my needle valve that had been causing my truck to run out of tune, it is now running good so I took it out and flogged it real good. It's been too long.:-X04
