Worked for a trucking company in high school, all Mack trucks. One of the drivers wanted a new radio installed. I pulled the old one out and noticed that ALL the wires were white, no other colors. Crazy, huh!!
Anyway, today I jumpered my NSS until my new comes in. Probably not the safest thing to do. I cut and spliced the red wires on the switch side of the plug. Starts up, no problem. Easy day. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...f8af25955f.jpg |
I hooked up and adjusted my Holley throttle spring bracket and also installed new 5/16 fuel line with fuel filter from fuel pump to carburetor. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...caa07f2ad.jpeg |

I am not sure where you got that information. The newest positive ground vehicle I have ever seen is from the 50s. All trucks, class 5 to 8, that I have ever touched that are newer than that have been conventionally wired. Kenworth, Freightliner, IHC/Navistar, Volvo, Peterbilt, GMC(post 6v era)/Chevy, Mack, White, Sterling, Ford, Hino, Mitsubishi Fuso, they are all negative ground.
As for wire colors, I'm pretty sure Peterbilt invested in a 25 year supply of white wire and when they ran out they decided to change it up and buy yellow. 7 wire conductor for big truck has the white wire a larger gauge as ground, black as constant power. White wires in the wiring harness are grounds as a general rule, black as power. Replacement lighting pigtails are often marked this way as well. |
Yeah, was about 2001 when I last worked at the truck dealership, so nearly 20 years ago for me too

Went to the jy. Got a rear sway bar from a '78 F350 and a saginaw power steering pump from an E250.

Got the blue 76 parts truck front end blocked up just aft of the radius arms. We are pulling the complete front end off tomorrow AM to make a bump side have front disk brakes. I think we are giving it power steering too.
Took the Bronco for a spin on the back 40 looking for Turkeys. Gobble gobble. Continued to gather repair parts for the blue trucks well bearing blow up. 51 bucks for a front hub from Rock Auto. I though that was pretty good and it came with the races already pressed in. |
Got my cab finished now on to the bed. Thanks to Rich I got the race track trim installed.

Tried my friends 44 18 20 boggers on for size, looks like I need a few more inches of lift. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...c9e90e570.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...fcf9f09d9.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...8a1cde780.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...ffa4e5443.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...9df4b9475.jpeg |
New front leaves installed over the weekend.
Painted with POR-15, assembled, and installed with new Grade 8 zinc coated hardware. New stover nuts, bolts, and washers were used. Icing on the cake is the UHMW strip that sits between the leaves in the pack... Ride quality improved. :-X22 Ride height restored, and is equal on both sides. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...839a19b445.jpg |
Cut some bed patch and gas flap change out (back to the exposed filler neck) for a fellow FTE member. I would load a pic of course, but for some reason I can't....
