I painted my gauge cluster needles today, here's some pictures.

After. The tachometer needle in person is the exact same color as the speedometer needle, bad picture angle and lighting made it look different.

Did you go with hot pink?

Yep, stylish ain't it? }>

As per my suggestion. Can't tell if it's got the glitter in it or not for the pics though.

Got the Ebrock apart probably 90% of the way, it ain't as bad as I thought it'd be. Taking short videos along the way to help with reassembly, plus I have a PDF of the Edelbrock 1477 kit's manual as reference.

I'm gonna have my truck running TO-NIGHT! lol

Nice work Kirby! We will need a video of that as well.

I need to get around to installing my factory gauge bezel with tach sometime.

bruno2 04-08-2013 09:27 PM

Josiah, I know where you can get some hot pink paint for those gauges.

Be careful Kirby! Find a nice clean area and perhaps a towel laid out so that any small parts cant bounce or roll away.

I used a big shopping bag made of that real shiny plastic material. It's done pretty good.

I had the spring from one of the metering rod assemblies try to make a run for it but I caught it. I don't even wanna think about having to wait for parts to be shipped to me if I lose any. lol

I'm in the process of reassembly now, I've got the bottom end mostly done. So glad I have the PDF to show me how it all goes back together. :D

As much as I want to get it running tonight, I've decided I'll wait til in the morning to start it so I don't have to deal with tracking down problems in the dark. I'll go ahead and bolt it up though so nothing gets down in the motor.

Make sure the metering rod pistons will move up and down smoothly in their bores. Some times when carbs sit things get corroded and the pistons won't move. And, make sure the accelerator pump check valve is in.

You mean the little ball and weight? I made sure those were like the first thing to go in, lol.

Yep. The ball is the valve, but it needs the weight to work properly.

FordFETruck 04-08-2013 10:19 PM

Mine had the weight but no ball once lol.

Um, I can see everything perfectly light up in person, my camera at night sucks as you can see.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ctureid=127347

A night shot with camera flash, the camera flash is pointing at the tachometer, or just slightly below it causing the color to look different, it's exactly the same as the rest in person. It sure did improve the looks of the inside of the cab though.

My truck earned its keep today...hauled about 700 lbs of brick from Home Depot for a landscaping project. I need about 1500 lbs to complete the other side of the yard, but as much as I'd like to know how the truck does with a full load on board, I'll probably break that into two loads, just to be safe.

I've had 50, 40 pound bags of wood pellet fuel in the back of my truck before, including a standard pallet, drove great on the way home lol.

Well, it's in there.

Something I noticed is that the accelerator pump that came with the rebuild kit has a shorter nose on it than the one it had in it.

http://i45.tinypic.com/s4s40o.jpg

My original looked like that with the long nose on the black end. The new one from the kit is said to be "high flow" and has a nose about half that long or a little less than that. It doesn't bind up or anything though. Pretty much everything else matched up pretty close.
