Ordered a set of new front leaf springs. Will be ordering u-bolt flip kit, and hopefully some UHMW plastic too.

No pretty pictures, but still proud of myself, as I’m no mechanic.....replaced the leaking fuel hose from the filler to tank, and the vent hose, as well as replaced the control module. The one in there was working, but on the way to failure, the plastic resin was melting and leaking. Simple work, but still an accomplishment to me!

Changed the oil. Gave her a bath. Then ordered new tires and other parts. I'll post up pics when I get everything on.

How was the drive to Bangor Slik? I'm towing mine to Whidbey in a month when I PCS.

Sold my plastic bed liner for $80. Now I have to deal with the rust holes in my bed, stupid bed liners.

The drive was great. Wife's Expedition towed my truck like a champ. Where are you now?

I hate those things like the plague! They are nothing but moisture magnets! Water and debris get trapped underneath with nowhere to escape.....a recipe for rust!

Installed locking hook latch. Special thanks to 77&79F250 for posting diagrams in an earlier thread, they were a definite help. Thanks man. I need to park my rig on the street for the next few months and this will be peace of mind during that time. I will likely source a new cable but in the short term this oem setup will do.

Ford have you not been here yet? https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...then-some.html that info has been right here the whole time.

I am NOT a fan of a locking hood latch, you get a stuck welded starter solenoid or god forbid a carb back fire and that hood latch can be the death of a truck. IMO So is this enough to make sure you all at least carry a fire ext?

Roger that. This is strictly for anti-theft while I park my truck on the street. I'll likely switch back to non locking once it's safely nesting inside my property. I appreciate the heads up and I do realize seconds count and a broken hood cable would be a very sad situation if your truck / engine compartment was buring up.

Seems to me that is similar to the 'I don't wear seatbelts because you can get trapped etc.' argument. As long as you keep everything maintained correctly, the likelihood of either engine fires or stuck latches is pretty remote. Both at one time? Shame on the owner, or maybe he should buy lottery tickets.

One of the many, many things to like about 78_f800crewcab4x4’s work is how he rebuilt a locking hood latch. If I do end up keeping my setup I’m going to shamefully steal from his idea: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-build-34.html

Rich,
Last Christmas my son purchased an OEM locking hood latch for my 77 F-150, for some reason I haven't yet been motivated to install it and don't think I will now. Moreover, back in the Fall of 2016 you were the individual that mentioned (responded) to a thread on what tools to carry, and you stressed to have a fire extinguisher, thereafter I bought one and it's been in the cab since. Thanks for the sound advise.
So for anyone wanting a complete OEM locking hood latch, PM me.
