I have run Kuhmos before and they gave me good service. They had a good tread pattern (all terrains) and they seem to hook up pretty good off road too.

The KL 78's have lots of siping, and a tread pattern very similar to the old Cooper radial LT's.
They also have the winter traction icon.
Should be good in the slushy snow we typically get here along the coast.

Starting to look like a hospital in there now, Gary.

Hadn't thought of that, but it sorta is - a hospital for trucks. Old trucks.

You know Gary, it's 2012.... there's an app for that. :-X19

Haven't seen that in the App Store - I'll go look. Gotta have some good ones for the iPad mini that Santa (dressed as a postman) is bringing. }>

Seems like there's an app for just about everything now. Yet I have never used one or one of those contraptions that use apps?

I must live in a cave, a pretty deep one lol.

Found out I have a baby on the way. My truck aint gunna cut it as a daddymobile yet, so I may have to upgrade/replace the ole girl. I aint just gunna give up though, my search will begin for an 87-94 crew cab diesel 4x4.

Congradulations, family trumps all... :-drink

Drove the truck today, it's used almost half a tank of gas in 20 miles? wow something's screwed up.

It's all in the gauge.

I sure as hell hope it is, but even before it got about 10-12 MPG on the highway before I did all the engine work but we were running it hard hauling stuff.

Today I tried adjusting the idle down a bit to see if I could get a lope sound going...didn't work out so well, lol. Ended up putting it back (without a tach this time, last time I set the idle I set it to stock and watched the tach).

Tomorrow I am thinking about pulling the plugs and trying them at either .050" or .052" gap and see how things work. I probably won't notice a big difference til I upgrade to a better coil.

Also thought about how next year I'm wanting to put a cam and roller lifters in, work on getting an Edelbrock 1406 going that I'm going to be buying from my friend, install headers....lol

I wish you the best of luck with that Edelbrock 1406, mine has been a problem child lol. For the heck of it I might try the 3" blue vacuum springs to see what it does.

TheKirbyMan 12-07-2012 09:30 PM

lol it'll be getting a complete rebuild before I install it, it's been on an 80s Silverado for who knows how long. I know it's been sitting up for a while.

I'm wondering if I can use an adapter plate and use the 1406 on my factory 2bbl intake, or if I'm going to have to get a 4bbl intake.

For what it's worth, get a 4 BBL intake, putting a 4bbl on a 2bbl intake just isn't gonna work that great if you ask me lol.

I used to sell those 4 barrel to 2 barrel adapters, not willingly, but sometimes people didn't have the money for the 4 barrel intake. They don't flow worth a damn. You might get lucky, Ford built a lot of 289-302 engines with 4 barrels.

What 2 bbl aftermarket carb do you personally recommend for a 351 w. Going through the receipts on my 83 f250 4x4 carb has been rebuilt 3 times since new. So I figure the ole girl deserves new. Or should I stay with an OEM.
