Decent progress over the weekend. Have a look at my build (thread link in signature) for more details. Lots more pics in there.
Out with the old: Attachment 194154 In with the new: Attachment 194155 New rear window is from a 1995 F150. Proof that windows up to 1996 will fit in these trucks: Attachment 194156 Made sure to snap a pic with the gasket off just to help others choose a "new" window for their project :-X22. No more debating on whether 1996 windows will fit :p Attachment 194157 |

I like the black better too. The aluminium colour sticks out like a sore thumb IMHO. I'll admit it took a few minutes to get used to the black... I kept thinking there was no window in the back of the truck because of how dark the frame is. |
I've gotten a few good things done for my truck in the last few weeks. I finally got around to sending my ammeter off to Rocketman, got my nice reworked voltmeter back a few days ago.
Last Friday, I sent Gene Cochran my newly purchased Ford AM-FM Quadrasonic 8-track unit for him to go through and make like new. And just a few minutes ago, I bought a set of bucket seat brackets from Copperstate Components. I'm on the look out for some nice '70's Ford buckets to mount...78_f800crewcab4x4 inspired me with his perfectly suited '70 Mustang high-back buckets. Oh, and I almost forgot...Last week, I also installed my new aft tank fuel sender, and Friday, sent my mid-ship tank's sender off to Tri-Starr to be rebuilt. Hope to have that back in a couple of weeks. David :) |
Put the tailgate and good on, stillnsome tweaking to do but it's coming along.https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...f4bb112820.jpg

Worked on the cab floor board. I sanded, used Naval Jelly, epoxy primed, and then rolled on the Herculiner. Not 100% happy with the outcome. But it will work for what I am wanting to do, prevent rusting out my floor pans. Eventually, I will be adding sound deadener and then new carpet.

I installed a new heater core.
It goes good with the radiator, radiator cap, hoses, and thermostat I installed a couple weeks ago. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...b60978c8ad.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...c6e1bc4426.jpg |
The open dif D60 in my 73 F250 turned out to be a 16 spline unit. Luckily the rearend shop had an old 16 spline trac loc tucked away in good condition. They put in a new clutch set and now I'm down the road with an LSD. We'll see how the ol' gal holds up.

I put another heater core in it, the previous one lasted four whole years. I also did something I haven't done In years, polished and waxed it. The rust even shines now!
|
Spent many hours researching for things I need.
|
Radius arm bushings, sway bar bushings, shocks and brake hoses. Tomorrow is same treatment for the rear!
|
Spent about 7 hours, 5 cans of gunk, two wire wheels and was rewarded with two shiny frame rails that now have primer drying on them. I also pumped up the front tire, and used starting fluid to get my rear tire back on the bead. Now sitting on four round tires again.

Drove it up to Home Despot and rented me a plumber's snake for the floor drain in my driveway, where a garage used to be. It stopped feeding at about 25 feet and didn't speed up the drain action, so I brought it back, and decided to change my oil.
I made sure the truck wasn't facing downhill this time, and got all of the old oil out. Unfortunately, my drain plug is right over the crossmember, so I got some oil on my face and in my hair, but whatever... Oil filter is a little messy too, but I'd laid some cardboard under there. I also realized, as I watched my oil pressure come up, that I hadn't looked at the fuel gauge all day, and that the needle is now below "E." I'll take it to the gas station tomorrow. I then changed the oil in my Corolla. |

Cleaned up the wiring around the battery and added a small fuse panel for future constant power needs. Finished installing an alarm which was made much easier by taking out the gauge cluster. And it gave me a good opportunity to clean up some PO mods. All this so I can finally get some tunes!

Cracked Header

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...f5b6b9b006.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...6831eb1f0d.jpg I had a bad tick coming from the drivers side exhaust so i took off the header and found it was cracked where the collector is welded on. So I ordered a new set of headers from BBK last night. The headers that we're on the truck were used ones so I'm not sure how old they were but I know they fit. Before I saw where it was cracked I just planned on welding them up until I found out it was on the inside of the collector where you can't get to. |
