bolt twisted off

What did I do? Well some one over-tightened the coil hold down bolt and it twisted off, so I had to drill and tap that out.
Then I called Napa and told them the master cylinder they sold me was leaking and I wanted to get another one. They said OK, I had my recite still and I received a brand new one this time not a rebuilt one and all is well. Drove the ole truck around in field and done some mud sling'n. ya hoo:)

Built the brackets and braces to secure the running boards to the frame. I'll take the truck to the muffler shop this week to get it all welded up

replaced the right side exhaust manifold gasket. Cured the exhaust leak

motor leaking a pretty fair amount of oil. Appears to be coming from the drivers side valve cover. Pulled the cover, removed the broken and brittle rubber. Replaced with cork

sprayed down the motor with degreaser. Clean again

adjusted the idle mixture screws to maximum vacuum. Over 17, but not 18. But exactly 44! :)

adjusted the ignition timing for maximum vacuum at idle. 44 again

yes, adjusted the mix and timing with vacuum advance disconnected and plugged

Went to lunch and drove to the gas station to put more gas in it. Runs like a beast!https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...2c69376c12.jpg

Purchased a new left side interior door handle. OEM broke off in my hand yesterday evening.

Fix my transmission. I have a swapped in M5R2 and the shift forks went bad. Fun ride home in 3rd. Wound up having to grind down one of the shift forks so it wouldn't touch it's neighbor. Between that and having to order a top cover plug it took me 2 weeks.

Also worked on the dash panel. Had several screws that had pulled through the back. Put some epoxy on to hopefully help. We'll see how long it lasts.

I finally had a chance to replace all of the battery cables (ground, and both solenoid cables) with appropriate length cables nice heavy battery terminals all nice and heatshrinked.

You did know that is if was just the fwd curved part that broke off, you can take it off and flip it 180 and put it back on till you get the new one in the mail.

Yep I did that for the run to the parts store. Dorman replacements feels much lighter than the OEM part. Feels like I'm going to snap it off if I'm not careful.

Texas has to have some junk yards with some 73-79's in them?

I'm sure but none local to me in this area. I n eed to take a ride through the country and find some old pickups just sitting around. 96 seems to be the oldest any of the yards here will keep.

Have you asked in your Texas chapter for any some what local parts trucks JY places?

78: troubleshot the no-start issue. Turned out to be a failed electric fuel pump. Had an extra, so I swapped it out. Installed an ell on the input to replace the old hose. Confidence builder!

Installed backup lights

I added some brake fluid, and hauled a bunch of garbage off of my property, and drove it about 90 miles:-X22 ...according to its odometer.

Several weeks ago, I changed my speedometer cable's driven gear and gloated about it here. It was originally a tan 19 tooth gear, and I'd swapped in the off-white 18 toother out of my old 5-speed '92 Mustang GT. The one out of my old '82 GT with an SROD 4-speed is that same off-white color and also has 18 teeth, but they are pitched in the opposite direction! They are also chewed up... I ran that car with the SROD and later a T5, but the speedo always seemed to work quite well with no jumping needle or anything.

With the 18 tooth gear in my truck, the speedo seemed to still register slower than I was travelling, so last week I put a wine colored 16 toother (out of a junk-yard '83 F250 with an NP435) in there, and it is 3-4 MPH fast according to my phone's GPS speedo app, which is about right. I downloaded the app after I'd already put the 16 tooth gear in, so I don't know how far off the 18 toother is. I'm tempted to swap it back in to see...:-X03

So I'm thinking that either my truck has taller tires than stock, or/and someone swapped a 2.75:1 chunk in place of the original 3.00:1. I'm also starting to think that my 300 is really a 240...:'(

Still gets the job done well though...:-X22
