Finally got my dash painted and back in. Wired up the head unit and speakers and put 1/2 inch jute on the ceiling. Was going to use a dynamat type product but the local upholstery guy sold me enough jute for the ceiling and doors for $20.

Drove the blue one to work, admired it every time I walked out the door, fired it up and drove home.

Put a new gauge cluster back and circuit board on the back of my gauges. The old one had basically turned to chalk. I also got lucky enough to find a bulb on the floor of a truck at the jy to replace the one I was missing. Also got the headliner installed. Hopefully seats and console tomorrow.

Started a complete brake job. Even got my 17 year old in on the action. She swapped in a rear wheel cylinder and can flare brake lines like a champ.

She loves this truck as much as I do, both of my kids do. I'm thankful for having that bond with them both and the memories we make in the shop working on all of our projects.

We also made a brake line straightener today:

Just run the coil back and forth a few times and then rotate it and run it back and forth again. Straight as an arrow.

I got to flare ONE tube today with the Mastercool brake flare kit. After I did this one, she did the rest of them. Anyone that flares brake lines (or transmission lines, or fuel lines) needs to check it out. Perfect every time.

IT LIVES!!!!!!

Yesterday went well. I paid off my pickup. Got a set of 16" rims from my brother, Dan Schildhauer, set of used tires from my friend Scott Odea and a battery from Michael Schepker. Dan, Scott and I broke 4 tires off one set of rims and mounted on the ones I needed. Dan hauled them home for me and we delivered them to the pickup. I primed the carb, showed little brother how to hot wire an old ford and we had life. We woke the old girl from a 10 year slumber. The idle was smooth, the exhaust clear. A little lifter noise but that was to be expected. It still sits in same place, no brakes or keys. Waiting for paperwork. It was a good day.

Still struggling to get the thing to run right. Almost burned it to the ground in doing so.
