Today (well its 1:50AM so yesterday) I Painted my passenger side grille gloss black. wanted to go flat black but I have 10 cans of gloss and only one can of flat. I also got her running again after the 4bbl swap. I will get some pics when I have it 100% done. It does run though! Its been a long time since someone could just turn the key and have it start. First off I had to replace the ring gear on the flywheel then have it turned and bought a new clutch. Then I had a new gear put on the brand new starter that some idiot put on with a bad ring gear. DUH! Then the 2bbl carbs fuel filter broke off when I tried to replace it so it seemed like I would never just be able to start it. Well I can now. Now I need a transmission rebuild kit for my 435 and I'm good to go. It will be my 3rd time driving the truck since I got it in Feb. First time was during the trade, second was to pull my Chevelle out of the garage and pull in the F100 then it was ripped apart.

I will I just had too much going on today to finish. The one on the driver side has a split in it. I am painting one I got for free that is white and it needs cleaned first. I wont be caught dead driving it like that for sure!

Today, I went to yet another parts place to try and find a clutch for my 460's flywheel. The flywheel came off my buddies 460, but is not a factory Ford flywheel. No 460/390 clutch kit I've found has worked on it. I'm stumped. Flywheel has no numbers or markings on it at all.
Over the past 2 weekends, I yanked the 400 out of the truck, cleaned up and painted the engine bay (frame), took out the home-made wood header in the cab and cleaned up the wiring behind the dash. The 460 would be in it if it weren't for this dang clutch issue. Tomorrow (errr...today for you daylight guys), I'm going to go back to the parts store and try out the 3 clutches they ordered for me to test-fit. If they don't work, I'm just going to get a new flywheel... |

Today, I got the rollover vent hole cut in the tank, the grommet & valve installed, the new fuel lines run, and started for the first time in about two weeks :-D Couldn't find my zip ties though, which is a pain, I need to secure the fuel line a little better. ~Brad |
Weekend plans...
If I can find all the parts to my canopy to set up in my yard, I'm probably going to pull the bumper off the back of my truck, sand it down, then repaint it... That's assuming I can crack the bumper bolts loose lol... It would also be a good time to pull the mudflaps off and replace them with new ones... Should probably finish sealing the gap between the camper shell and the bed - ran out of silicone so, I only got halfway down one side... |
cleaned
Yesterday after letting the bed carriage bolts/nuts soak the night before in CLR to remove rust, and touching them up with my angle grinder and wire wheel, I primered and painted the nuts and bolts. This morning I put the painted bolts/nuts back in, and spread anti seize stuff on the threads, so hopefully no more rust. Took it today to the body shop that I work at part time and used the detail bay with the high pressure washer, cleaned everything up real well and started to wash the engine too, but ran out of time. So maybe next weekend I can finish cleaning the engine up. Got the windshield fluid reservoir cleaned and squirting again as well.

Fabbed up a pair of 2.5-inch intermediate pipes to go between the Hedman headers (PN 89120) and the mufflers. The left side collector crosses over to the right side in front of the NP435 and both tubes will go between the T-case and right frame rail.
I couldn't decide on mufflers cuz I don't like glasspacks nor do I like to mount oval case mufflers on their side. After much contemplation, I just ordered some Moroso Spiral Flows mufflers - 4 inches in diameter, a 12-inch body, and overal length of 18 inches. The tailpipes will angle down and exit in front of the right rear tire. The new right intermediate pipe will install vertically. http://i47.tinypic.com/1zohwfl.jpg |
