installed djm dropped axles on my 74, cut 1-1/2 coils off. third time i'v done this and gets harder every time and takes longer, I guess i'm getting to old for that kind of work.

While cleaning up the headliner, painted, chrome trim, etc. Went to Lowes.
Here are the screws you need for the headliner. It takes 12 and these are packs of 10. But that's ok, buy 2 packs because you need 8 more for the sun visors and middle visor holder (20 in total).
The old screws looked bad with chrome headliner lol. These are shiny. I was going to use rivets but couldn't really get that to work without drilling out the holes a bit larger.. meh.

well i found out the hard way that my gremlin is worse than i thought battery wouldn't hold a charge no matter how much i charged it so i swapped for a new one but then today i was driving and it just died and had no fire whatsoever turns out that the coil was hot all the time and it finally gave up the ghost and died so i am gonna have to play with all my wires AGAIN!!!

ZarK-eh 05-08-2015 10:09 PM

Check up on the resistor wire that may or may not be needed for your coil...

Stock has the resistor wire and drops the voltage to the coil to prevent it from overheating. And full voltage supplied by the Starter Relay/Solenoid I terminal at start (on newer trucks this is handled by the ignition switch).

smokenchoken 05-09-2015 06:46 AM

mine is all ****ered up it was my fault the way i rewired it for now until im done with truck driving school i am just gonna have to keep the battery unhooked when i am not actually driving it apparently the only thing my key shuts off is the brain (ignition box) so i am thinking about installing a secondary fuse box or finding a new wiring harness

Put a red-head steering box in last weekend with the help of some friends.

But this weekend I attempted to put on new rear leaf springs (78 f150 4WD) but got stuck on the first side when the springs would line back up with the holes in the lift blocks.. I was working by myself which didn't help. I just posted a new thread to get some help, so if anyone here has any advice let me know!

Doing a little rust prevention before I put on this rear bumper that I bought yesterday from Craigslist for $100. The bumper was brand new never installed but sat outside and collected rain so I sanded down the rust, sprayed a rust reformer, coat of primer, then sprayed 1st coat of 3M Professional Rubber Under Coating.
Here in the NW this would have just gotten worst so best to stop it now and save myself some work down the road.

Shift Collar and Turn Signal Switch

The old girl acted like she didn't want to shift into park. I was afraid the shift collar was going to give out and leave me somewhere. The turn signal had been intermittent as well so time to tear it down. Good thing I did - the collar was cracked almost all the way through. The only bad news is the selector pin for the NSS sheared off the column. I only live 15 minutes from Dennis Carpenter so off I went, but they are closed for the holiday weekend. Oh well. I'll replace that later. At least it shifts well and the turn signals work.

All back together.

Wife bought me a new Grant steering wheel. She's one hell of a woman. It was easy to install and it's a little smaller than the stock wheel but I like it a lot.
