One guess at what I am about to do to the Ex. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...aedb0d5f8b.jpg

It can't be so bad that you have to set it on fire with laquer thinner.

We have an understanding. I won't resort to setting it ablaze as long as the FPR spring goes in without a fight.

Try # 2 with the front brakes. Changed pads and rotors in Sept before we took a western road trip. One of the new rotors was bad, and one of the calipers was sticking. These pretty red ones are just OEM rebuilt by power stop. Good price on them at Rock Auto. Changed the lines too while I was at it. The Hawk LTS pads looked fine, as they should with only a few thousand miles on them. Waiting on my wifely assistant to bleed them tomorrow.

Made decision to sell the Ex in the next few weeks. Work has been better than expected since coming out of retirement last year, and I like the new F250's.
A 2nd boat project made its way into the barn for the winter, so now there wont be any room for the Ex.
Also, I was never big on paying insurance while she hibernated, so this year I'll save the coin and look forward to truck shopping in May after tax refund.
Anywho...that's the plan....for now.

So I had a few ask me in PMs if that is a real road I am on in the picture. The answer is yes and there is traffic. I take a buddy with me to help so someone doesn't run into me while taking pictures.

Either people don't care or when they see a camera, they assume you are suppose to be there.

The proper attitude and a appropriate prop (in this case a camera) will allow you to get away with all sorts of interesting activities. ;) :-drink

Diff fluid change

So this happened this weekend.https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...051b2ec6d0.jpg
https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...2746f38898.jpg
Pretty sure the rear differential fluid in my '01 Ex hadn't been changed since it rolled off the factory assembly line , plus 3 winters here at Ft Drum , NY with all the salt and snow.

Anyways 1 of the 12 bolts didn't wanna come out. Sprayed it with easy out, let it sit. Put the wrench on and taped it with a rubber mallet, felt it break loose or so I thought, went to turn it the rest of the way and boom! A busted wrist and brown bolt in the case Housing. When this happen Saturday it was 65 degrees. Sunday it went south big time. 30 degrees and snowing.

Almost 2 hours drilling the bolt and using the easy out I was able to get it out, cleaned and resealed.

Honestly when that bolt broke my heart sank and desperation almost set in. I hung up the tools for the night and went after it the next day with a clear head, determination, and a wrapped up left hand.

Next weekend the front diff gets done. Keeping my fingers crossed it goes much smother.

Technically what did I do to the X yesterday, drove it. So much fun driving around and looking down at other drivers. I am horrible...

Pick and Pull

I went to a pick and pull and picked up these nice items.

1. Headrests from a 99 Lincoln Navigator, the color is pretty close, in person its spot on but the picture does show it slightly different color. I really like the larger style. I will use the existing headrest as part of a third row head rest project.

2. The steering wheel from the same vehicle.

Got tired of the Velcro

I saw those on a Navigator at the Pick N Pull I was at but ran out of time. That is one of the things I plan on picking up when I go back.
