I am in dire need of new brakes on my 01 v10. the pads recently started grinding and the rotors have probably been warped for some time because since i can remember (had it since July 4th, 2012) the dash has vibrated, etc, when i brake, even more-so when braking hard. it's a 3rd vehicle that's paid off, so i don't drive it much, and since the brakes are bad it's been sitting the last 2+ months until i can afford to get new rotors and pads all around.
what is a decent set of brakes that will give my excursion (stock wheels/tires) some good stopping power, but won't brake the bank? i haven't changed the rotors since i've owned it (fronts are drilled/slotted, not sure what brand) but last time i put pads i used just your average autozone type pads, and they were never that great/didn't last that long IMO. wanting some good rotors and pads but i cannot afford a HUGE bill at the moment. hard for me to give a budget because i don't wanna cut myself short if there's really good parts that may be just above whatever budget, so i will decide what i can afford whenever i look up whatever parts you guys suggest :) didn't wanna make a new thread just for this, i figured plenty of excursion guys post in this thread so i posted it here lol. |

Order Ford Motorcraft pads and rotors from RockAuto.OEM is best.

Just got a sweet deal on an LS 4.30 diff for the wife's X (look at Sig) should be installing it over the weekend should wake up the anemic 5.4.

So I've done a few things to the ol' 7.3 to get some more power out of her, and try and keep the EGTs down. Wicked wheel 2 installed, added a Boost guage, along with a over boost regulator, unplugged the waste gate hose, and sent my tunner for a reburn by Tony Wildman.
With the new wheel and my ****ty super chips tune installed, it hit 34 psi boost and jumped the EGTs big time in the same amount of time it took to get into second gear. But HOLY ****, it smoked the tires like never before. They where sticky even!!! But it screams at me that I need a locker in the rear axle. This LS diff isn't holding the best anymore. I can't wait to get the tuner back with some good tunes on it, see what this thing can really do!! |

I have not seen my Ex in two weeks, I think it may be at the airport right now as my Aunt had to fly down to FL for a few days and will be back tomorrow. She will still be using it until the end of the month. :(
It looks like it may be semi nice tomorrow, so I'm gonna drive the '56 Bel-Air. Attachment 215757 |
