Ranger isn't going away, too much competition in that segment. Looking at the F-150 4x2 equipped with the 3.7L V-6, it looks to me as though it will achieve th e same or better mpg's as the Ranger. I also think it's a shame that Ford considers the new Explorer to be a full size SUV. That mindset didn't work real well for the Dodge boys as the Dakota and the Aspen were pulled and appear to be for an overhaul. I think Ford needs to stay the course and offer and upscale Expedition and maintain the Navi as a more upscale version. |
I see less and less Navigators on the road these days, and even less on the dealership lots. The $$$ is way too high and one can find similar luxury in the Escalades. I think Ford's decision to scrape the Navigator is justified...albeit the loss of those jobs is not!
Back in 2007, we were promised of a replacement for the Excursion with the re-introduction of the Power Stroke into the Expedition... too bad that never came to light! I wonder why? |
There is no way the Navigator can be replaced with a rebadged explorer. I had an explorer then bought a 2001 Navigator. I looked into buying a new explorer but having driven my Navigator, just decided the explorer was too small. I bought a 2008 Navigator. I like Escalades but they were conciderably more money then the Navigator. I had an Escalade as a rental while the gator was getting some warrenty work done and decided that I personally don't feel I made the wrong decision by buying the gator over the escalade. In fact it made me feel pretty good about my decision.

I love my Navigator and my old Mark VIII. We have in my immediate family a '00 Navigator, '94 Mark VIII, '98 Expedition, '98 Explorer, '04 Mercury Monterey van, '05 Mountaineer, '02 Cobra and a '95 Taurus and currently considering a V10 Excursion. I hate to think of the customer base Ford will lose if they continue dumping popular cars and trucks. I have never owned a Chrysler product and only 1 Chevy Crew Cab Dually that was a great truck and a '57 Corvette, but if this continues I guess I'll be forced to look at the Suburbans again. Ford down sized the drivetrain and size of the Explorer and has the nerve to call it a full size truck? HAH, it's a Mini!! If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, by God it must be a duck!:-X09 Okay the rant is over.:-X20 |
If it can't tow 8-10K lbs then I don't need it. I guess when I buy a new one it will be a Suburban.
