Here is a video of my dad and I starting the engine for the first time. This is without any fine tuning on the injection pump for the new turbo and it has no exhaust on it yet so its pretty loud. Notice how it starts as soon as the key is turned and idles perfect. I love this little diesel!! YouTube - Isuzu 4BD1T diesel in 67 F100

Thanks everyone, its a great feeling haveing all that hard work appreciated by others.

I have been working on the rear axle today, things like shock mounting, coating it in por-15, adding synthetic fluid and finishing the brakes so I can get them bled and then its on to the e-brake cable, oh that will be fun.... :-(

Awesome......!!!!

carcrafter22 AWESOME BUILD DUDE....!!!!:-drink:-jammin:-jammin:-jammin:-drink

I am A mechanic and Do alot of Custom Fabrication on the side at home...I love to build One of a kind and Different Rides....I Am a Ford Guy At Heart, and just bought into a 65 ShortBox Flareside truck....I am going to be doing a Complete frame off restore and upgrade to it with my 13 yr old Daughter....

I happened across this thread this Morning, and had to read it from page one to here.....

After reading this I now know I will be looking for a mid 90's T-Bird with 4.6 and Aod so I can get the engine, trans, and rear end out of it, and Buy the Vic front end out of a local yard....And once my frame is bare and ready to build back up, It will only take me a weekend to have a running Rolling chassis with Full IFS/IRS and Disc brakes......As well as LSD rear and EFI fuel system....
And the Best part is I can say it's all Ford Parts...For all the Purist's out there......8D

Then All I need to worry about is what to do for interior....? Any of you who have done recent interior work have any suggestions...? I will most likely run a Tilt column out of the Bronco or Maybe the T-bird..? And I think I'd Like to stay with some kind of Split bench power seat....I am going to remove the tank from in the Cab, So I'll have a bit of room in the rear for
Thump system.....:-headbang Sorry for kinda hi-jacking....:-fire

Again AWESOME BUILD....I personally know what It takes, and Commend you....Look forward to more video, and What Kind of Milage you get as a Dailey Driver.....

Subaruguy72--welcome to FTE. Carcrafter22 has some skills!!!! So does Marz68!!!! might I suggest picking up a 95 or newer Lincoln Mark VIII. you will get the IRS, a 32 valve motor, and a better transmission than a Bird, FYI. The Birds trans is not so good unless its been J-Mod'd, and a Mark 8 TQ converter installed with a big cooler. Im sure once you put it under a truck youd be having the converter shudders in no time if its stock.

Thanks For the Heads up 72-F100-4V...I'll keep that in mind....I hope to get into one before Summer is Over.....

carcrafter22 06-24-2008 12:25 AM

Thanks guys I am glad you like it.

And now on to the update :D enjoy.....

Ok finally some updates.

Here is what the rear suspension looks like with the shocks installed. I just need to install the new brake line sine I messed the old one up.

Here is part of the factory 2006 chevy duramax intake I had to modify. I cut off a good portion and attached a rubber section on the end so I could connect this to the turbo.

Here is the complete modified air intake system from the 06 chevy duramax

Here is the new alternator I bought from the junkyard for $25. The one on the bottom was the previous installed alternator that put out 135 amps and is considered the large case 3G. The one on top is the new one I am useing for clearance between it and the air intake, it is a small case 3G and puts out 95 amps. Now that I know it will work fine and clear the intake I will be ordering a PA performance 150 amp small case 3G alternator.

Here is the original isuzu diesel dipstick. I couldnt find a universal one that had the same large OD so I had to mod this one.

That is one fine job. The truck look great and I like that you are making stuff look right as well as work right. Too many times folks get in a hurry and don't consider the appearance. Can make an excellent project look like a hack job. Yours looks like it could have from the factory this way. Bravo carcrafter

jsutton 06-25-2008 09:57 AM

It does look great and I see in the last pic you have everything you need.

Duct Tape for if it moves and shouldn't!
and WD-40 for it doesn't move and should!

LOL
Make sure you get some video of the test drive too.

Carcrafter22 and others:
Hello, Can you give me an idea of the difficulty I am going to encounter putting the front suspension (brakes and all), and 4.6L from my 1997 Crown Victoria w/ police package into my 1960 F100? I have the complete car so I have the wiring harness. The transmission is toast. Would it be more prudent to use my 1973 F100 w/ a 85 302 2v and 3 speed auto and power brakes? I have read all about the great work with your 67 truck and and the 06 suspension. I am most envious of the level of completion you have acheived with your truck. Thanks for any replies. I am anxious to get started. Thanks in advance for any replies.
