No problem rs.
Paul nice job on the restoration. |
bringing this back....
i'm going to look at a 78 f150 sc that a guy i work with has. i know some basics- 400/c-6 2 wd sc sb. it has 8 lug wheels. i'm planning to restore the truck and drive it daily. couple of questions if you don't mind. will an overdrive auto make a decent difference in mpg? i'm shooting for about 15 or so mpg the rear seat is a bench, is it big enough for the occasional adult to ride in? any problem spots to look for in these years? i plan on using it as a tow rig also for my mustang and camper. thanks a lot guys! |

Just bought my 76' F-250 Ranger SuperCab before the New Year. I've wanted a truck like this for some time and finally had a good reason to buy one. It's a 390 four barrel with headers and no other apparent mods, that has been fairly well cared for over the years for a work truck. Lots of crappy old wiring has dogged me these first couple weeks, but for $1,100 I'm really enjoying this old truck and plan to keep it for the long haul. I may use it occasionally to tow my vintage 59' Airstream (about 4,500 pounds and 26').
emeraldcoupe, I can only comment on your back seat question and I'll say an average size adult (under 6 feet) will fit back there, but not very comfortably. Kids under 12 fit great though. Norm |
Nice truck. Those seats look pretty comfy

i'm getting this from a friend, soon as i pay him off. 78 f350 ranger sc, 400 / auto

Are the rear jump seat's in Paul's SuperCab stock? Our supercab has a bench style seat.
|
both (jump seats or a bench) were available as options. Mine has nothing but storage space back there as of now. 2 race seats, a cooler, a storage bin and a bunch of roll cage tubing will soon eat up that empty back area:-jammin

Here's my ole 78. Custom 4x4. All the pictures are from about 2.5 years ago. I went on a church mission and my parents let my truck sit..... So i'm in the process of getting her back on the road right now, just limited by my wallet. Truck has a 460/c6/np205 dana 60 rear with a detroit locker. Still looking for a 60 front, anyone have an extra?:-X14 It has a 6" lift now on 36's. Gotta get out and take some pictures of her.
A couple of days after i bought her! 2" lift with 33's https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...oid=62606&.jpg I went up to Utah for school and got to try out snow for the first time! by this time I had 35" mud terrains. I've done a lot of REAL wheelin in this beast but I've only got these poser shots on my computer https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...id=222248&.jpg http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...54010_5506.jpg http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...54069_1167.jpg http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...954067_640.jpg |

|
I have a 1978 F 150 Supercab with absolutely no modifications. I know the engine is a 350 but what about the drive train tranny etc. Can anyone fill me in on what I have.
|
Well, probably have a 351m backed by a c6 and a 9" rear, unless it was speacial order with a chebby 350!

http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos...0_998527_n.jpg Updated pictures! The rain and tornadoes and tsunamis of Southern California let up enough for me to take a picture or two! |
nice truck! how many tanks to the mile do you get towing the camper? i'll be towing my mustang and my camper with mine.
|
Ha Ha I can't even imagine how much it would cost to tow the trailer with my old beast. It's just parked in front of the trailer. The 06 f250 in the first picture does all the towing. Diesel engines and 5+ speed transmissions are all the rage nowadays for towing.
