In some states it is legal to tow more then one trailer at once as long as one is fifth wheel and the other is bumper pull. Also I think their is a length limit. I am pretty sure of this but not 100% on it.

Your right Trav, my buddies dad pulls his 5'er & Boat all over like that :-X22
He actually had to sell his 34' because the combo was too long to pull legally & I cant remember how long the new shorter 5'er is.

Thanks for verifying that warren. Personally I would never do that for reasons of sway and such like that. Trailer sway with just one trailer is crazy imagine 2 especially one being a fifth wheel.

Actually there is NO sway w/a 5'er (if you've experienced there was a problem somewhere) which is why its legal in almost every state to have passengers in a 5th-Wheel (u must have 2 way Radio's though) & Illegal in every state to do the same w/a Bumper-Pull....FYI

Note: while its Legal to have passengers in a 5'er iam not a fan of it

Redneckfordf2502002 05-18-2014 12:59 PM

I understand the 5er alone would have no sway but if for some reason the bumper pull behind it started getting sway really bad and the driver just ignores it (seen that hundreds of times) I would think the bumper pull trailer would cause the 5er to start swaying to. I saw something like this that had happened before except I wasn't watching the whole thing all I did was see a boat trailer in front of a truck with broken fiberglass and a 5er that pretty much jackknifed into the passanger side of the crew cab chevy pick up. I have not idea if he was hooked up right or whatever but still I would think it could happen.

(then again that was a chevy so chevys are accident prone.)LOL

edit: I agree on passengers in the fifth wheel I would never do that.

Oh I understand what your saying now, Tag-Along causing a 5'er to Sway ;)

Now back to our regularly scheduled Thread....Trucks working :-X04

Here is a pic of our 02 F250 4x4 V10 crew towing home my brother's 96 ranger 2wd with no engine or seats. Swapping the cab and bed on to our 92 Ranger 4x4 chassis and drivetrain. Any ways 4 guys in the cab, in the bed of our 02 is the hood, tail gate, 80lb gas powered air compressor, brother's 35" wheel and tire for his 91 F250 (not the brother who is getting the ranger), 800lb worth of tools in the tool box, and probably more. Trailer weighed probably 200-300Lbs more then the ranger did. LOL

double trailers are a regular on interstate highways, and some states even allow triples.
here in New Jersey total overall length can not be more than 75 ft.

Went on a camping trip to Banks lake last Thursday through Sunday. Managed 13.5 mpg with the bed full and seadoo in tow on the way there. Mixed driving on the way back managed 11.5. Pretty good if you ask me though.
