Dually bolts
Having a hard time removing Dually bolts/ inside wheels.
Any suggestions |
Keep trying, maybe 50 or more years of inertia tends to keep them in place. Plus they spec at 450-500 lb/ft of torque. Before I bought a big 1" drive gun I broke several sockets, box end wrenches, and used a 4' extender on the end of a breaker bar. Heat and penetrating oil help, but mostly it's brute force. Keep trying. And keep in mind left and right hand threads. Stu

Right side/passenger counter clock to remove - right? |
Yes, the nuts are marked "L" and "R". Left hand on the left side, right hand on the right side. Stu

I'm looking for a set of those 19.5 Budd wheels does any one still have a set of 6?
|
Yes, I have two sets of six. I see you are in PA, too bad you didn't speak up last week. A gentleman drove here last Saturday from PA to pick up his set. You could have maybe shared his gas cost and saved on shipping. Stu

Yes they do- all I need are a set of lugs to hold the putter whelks on! Can't find me! You have any I can buy? |
I emailed you back about the fasteners. Will mention here too that they can be found at Napa or others of the better parts houses, but you may have to get past the moron on the computer to get to a guy that knows. They are standard Budd designed pieces, no changes from the earliest days (late '20s) to the present. Today made by Dorman, Euclid, and others. I've bought them locally at the IHC dealer and at the OTR trailer dealer. I bet you could find them too at one of the big I-5 truck stops. I'll pull up the Dorman on-line catalog and see if they sell them retail or just wholesale to suppliers.
Here's the Euclid catalog page. I think I saw too that you can buy them through Amazon. Stu http://truckhub.us/yahoo_site_admin/...f.96161249.pdf |
Hope my 55 F6 looks that good someday. Do you have a set of the 19.5 in Illinois?
Be a good day trip for me. |
Here's my 19.5's
I found mine in a pasture on an old chassis yet so I bought the whole deal. A box of donuts a stop off at the local tire dealer truck shop, I had a guy come out and rattle my nuts loose! Media blasted epoxied & painted silver, found 4 like new tiers off CL, removed the lower leafs.
A couple of pizzas at lunch time can go a long way at the tire shop as well, the mobile service truck guy stopped by my shop rattle more of my nuts loose, mounted & ballanced the 4 new tires! & I'm looking stylish as well, i dig the new lower look! And thanks to Stu for help with details on this conversion. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...f32bb83b4c.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...0f56b0c4fc.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...20edd8ca0c.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...fe9194ca54.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...8e96c7e6fc.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...d335d33a2f.jpg |
