We used to work together before he got out of the Army. There's more pictures on my Facebook page, but I limited it here. This was a benefit show for a man named Beto Ortega and his daughter. Beto passed away recently, and all proceeds were to help out Jenna, who is only about 12. |

I don't know about the late Crown Vic fan but the MK VIII and Taurus fans can see 90A inrush unless you have a 'soft start' controller.

Lately I've been feeling bad about neglecting my F150. So today I went out and installed the other quad shock tower that has been sitting in my shop for months. I can't wait to "finish" my Ranger and get back to work on the old girl. It's funny how many of the things that I did to my F150, I'm now doing on my Ranger, like the 4x4 swap, black interior swap, and trim level change.
On a side note, I put a coat of wax on the Ranger the other day, and happened to notice this nice reflection in the paint. :) http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/...pswozvqupu.jpg |
Neat pic, Shaun. :-X22 It is just waiting, patiently, for you.

So is the engine...}> http://i1308.photobucket.com/albums/...psda932932.jpg |
I installed my "custom" fan shroud today. It pulls about 3 times more air now and when you put your hand up to the grille you can feel the air being sucked through the radiator pretty good.

About 1" on each side. Good enough. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.for...214e91ba4c.jpg My fan controller override switch. I also made that bracket. |
Shaun - Engine looks good. :-X22 But, you need to either massage the goal posts off the alternator mount or send it to me for "adjustment".
Matthew - Good job! I'm sure that means it'll pull a LOT more air. What did I do? Well, Rusty is going on an "errand" on Friday to tow my new toy home from OKC, and since the weather is not gonna be all that warm I thought my bride might like better heating. So, I started trying to figure out why the heat only comes out of the vents, and even then it is meager. I fixed the "meager" part of it by getting the blend door to work properly, but discovered that the distribution part is due to a bad vacuum motor on the floor/defrost door. So, that's tomorrow's job. :-arrgh And, I called up to the body shop and learned he got the new bed sides in for Dad's truck and really likes them. So, I'll head up there next week when the weather is to be good and find out if he's telling the truth that the cab, hood, core support, and fenders will be mounted on the frame by next weekend. :) |
I don't have much time during the week, but I ordered the new tires and wheels for the Beast. I ordered 17x8 KMC XD775 Rockstars in machined and black. Also four new 10ply tires and 32 new lug nuts.

Oh yeah, it pulls a LOT of air. When I got back from my grandpa's I tested it. 190 at idle and I turned the fan on, it was down to 175 in about 5 seconds. }>
For anyone who's curious. The cooking pan is 26"x18"x1". |

Thanks Gary! I'm still holding out for a set of the original brackets without the Smog pump ears, but then again, this bracket is beefier than the other ones. Decisions, decisions. :) |
No prob. We can do it any time.
As for what I did, I finished getting Rusty ready for his 275 mile outing tomorrow. Finished the work on the HVAC system wherein one vacuum motor had to be replaced. And, I discovered that the infamous plastic hinge is broken. :-arrgh So, since there was not nearly enough time to repair it I reached up through the defrost/floor door and pushed it into the heat position and pulled the vacuum off of the vacuum door. Hopefully it'll stay closed so we have heat on the floor and defrost if we need it. I also checked all fluids & tire pressures, washed the windows, and ensured that the tools are ready just in case. Filled the tank and now we are ready! :-jammin |
