I am not very familiar with Ford fuel injection, as most of the vehicles I have owned are carbureted. I have a 96 F150 with the fuelie 300 six, with MAF. As the weather has gotten hotter I have noticed the truck is starting much harder than it did when it was cooler outside. The engine turns over fine, but I have had to crank it 2 or 3 times before it starts. Sometimes when I try to start it, it will spit and spudder and barely hold an idle. Sometimes it will stall out, sometimes it will rev up to the normal idle speed. If I step on the accelerator to keep it running it makes no difference. Typically when this happens I get a strong raw fuel smell once it starts. Can any one give me some insight on what could be wrong here? BTW once the engine starts, it purrs like a kitten.

Did you ever find out what caused this, mine is doing the same thing

    Additional Information:

Pkupman82 sometime back said it's not only possible, but it's easy. Other have agreed its possible, but others said it's not. Live at 4500' in the mountains of western NC--MUST NEED.

    Questions:

    1. Should I go with Quad 4x4 equipment, if they have the new parts, or try to track parts through junk yards or through any other avenues?

    2. Am I allowed to e-mail members personally like Pkupman82 to talk with him or others? I just became a member today?

    3. Any other suggestions? This truck only has 150,000 miles on it and I hope to drive it till I die! Thanks for the help.

Thanks 86! I am really happy with that truck, it's been an awesome rig... tough as nails. I'm not done yet, I have a D60 swap in the works and a Banks Sidewinder Turbo waiting to be installed.
