I've read a few of your posts & figured you may be able to help me w/ my 300 I6 issues.

I have an 81 f150 w/ the 300 I6, Offy intake, Holley 390 4 bbl. When I punch it, the engine hesitates/coughs for a second before it kicks in & starts moving.

Is this cause the carb secondarys are vacuum? I've have some say the 4 bbl is to much but chose this setup cause i saw alot of people w/ it.

Have you experienced this or no anyone that has? Any words of wisdom you could impart on this Indiana redneck?

I truly, TRULY thank u for the kind words, and you have a lot to be very proud of. Combat today doesn't hold a candle to what your guys went through. It is still the last thing this country needs to be involved in, my two boys are active duty, one Navy and my oldest Marine Corp. And just from the one post from Chris about my EGR was correct, and I picked up a code scanner and yes he was right on the money. And the other codes so far let me know I was testing wrong lol. I really thank you guys for the input, it really helps ( not a mechanic by no means ) I look forward to talking to all you guys!! I can get long winded sometimes, sorry and thank you again for the kind words.

Thank u for the intel on the EGR, I'm slowly trying to track down the problem. You guys seem to have quite a bit of knowledge on the truck and I truly appreciate the help.

Yep, like I said I'm excited. One of my favorite all time bodies. There's a guy with a Mark 7 getting 34mpg on a stock engine. With heads and 6spd the wagon will be 400# lighter. I'm looking at the T-56 too, which has a .8 5th and .62 6th. But then again, I should be able to mark the pavement when desired.

I had a crescent wrench slip that passed for a rock chip on a window...

And yep, that red truck of my uncle's is a dog with it's 302. But knock on wood it's put up with 250k miles of his stomping. And a 300 in the wagon, that would be something haha. Official iceberg destroyer. I'll have to start studying graphs and specifics on the 300, there's guys breaking 30mpg in panther bodies with the 302.

That's the plan. Maybe a ZF 5 or a 3.XX set depending on what I find. Bill V says he'll tune her sometime this summer for me. By the way, exhaust looks like an EFI setup with an immediate Y pipe to the single outlet.

After the chat last night I took some notes this morning. 45mph in 4th is 24-2800 depending on terrain. I'm sure that's efficient haha
