    your charging wire is in good shape if you have equal voltage at the battery and alternator with the engine off. sounds like either the alternator is not being told to charge or it is bad. the harness that controls it does run past the dizzy, so trace it back from the alternator to the powertrain harness which plugs in I think on the other side of the engine, it may have gotten pulled loose when unplugging the dizzy, it may be easier to just get the alternator tested. for some wiring is easier than pulling for other wenches are easier.
