HeyBen, did you make it out to the Lonestar Round-Up this year? I only had one day to check it out and it was awesome!

For an IT guy i sure am clunky getting around in this forum. I was just reading a post from two years ago and saw a good shot of your Blue 50 Nice! The post was from 2010. I dont see mirrors on your truck? I do not want use the factory mirrors so i have been looking at some that are newer and screw into the door.

Also I had a chance to back track and look at your gallery of when you first brought her home. Very interesting.. Looks like someone at some point did some restoring.
Did you ever write any of that up as to who had it before etc.

I finally was able to get new magnaflo exhaust installed. I have a tag and have been driving the truck around locally. She is in the shop getting a new tierod, thats all they found wrong with the original front suspension. Well that and he said my front spring were not strong enough for the motor thats in it. hmmmm I need shocks anyway, what do you think about coil shocks? Sorry in advance for the long letter.

Hi Ben, Yes I did, its in the form of cash which equals good news. I can now move forward with getting the Coyote in the Frame. I am trying to decide on the right transmission. Its either the TKO 600 or a T56 Magnum. I am trying to work out the measurements and other factors to make a decision.

Mine is still going, but sleeping under a tarp right now. I have the 12" FT disk brake conversion, and the master cylinder conversion bracket already. Need to order a manual disk master cyl and hardlines. I am still playing with engine and trans combos for right now, I really want the manual with hurst shifter but playing hell with my shifter options. I am hoping to have it move under it's own power soon. Game plan goes brakes, engine, trans, wiring, finish up body work, new glass and gaskets, new tires, mount the spun aluminum moon style disks.

Your tank being half full and showing empty is the float. I had that problem on my 67 mustang when I added more rake to the back end in form of a long drop shackle kit. You will have to play with float angle to get it right. You can test this out by jacking up the back end up and down to see how the gauge goes up and down. I would of sent a PM but not quite there privilege wise yet.

Saw you are in Austin. I'm in Pflugerville. Is there an F1 meet up group? I am picking up a 1951 F1 tomorrow and would like to meet some folks with experience on these old trucks. Thanks... Mike Barrada

Hey Ben, Yes, I have been dealing with a great deal of frustration at No Limit and Wilwood over getting my brake hubs to fit the spindels and missing or wrong parts. Started 12/23 and still don't have the parts and really frustrated. I was following your Transmission issues. Sorry is all I can say. I hope it is resolved soon. I have always heard good things about the AOD other than adjusting the TV cable. I hope it is a fluke.

Ben,the pipes are from Summit part #SUM-670146 "Do it yourself exaust kit for hot rodders" All the pipes have slip joints that make fabing up and adjusting easy. Next I chose summits stainless steel clamps, part #SUM-69225.The Stainless steel mufflers wich I love, are also summits part #SUM-630405 , I bought the headers from Speedway Motorspart #930-020H SBF block huggers, wich Im pretty sure are made by Patriot. Keep in mind to use these headers, you will need to do some MINOR grinding on the motor mounts, easy stuff. Next the headers require changing to a mini starter, Speedway recomends and sells one that i bought, I dont have the part number, but you can see the box in my pics. The headers come with a flange that i got rid of by having the local muffler shop flare the end of my pipe after i cut it to legnth, to avoid the necesity of welding on the one supplied with the headers, besides it looked kind of flimsy to me. Next is the swivel hangers i bought from Summit.

Ben, ya got me thinking and I found a pic of my OLD exaust set up. I was thinking that if your gas tank is in the rear between the frame rails, you might be abel to route your new pipes like this old pic, over the axel, then out the sides. I love the look of bringing the tips out thru the running boards like Dreski and Arrowheadfred, but the tales of resonation in the cab kind of scared me into coming out the back. Im just thinking out loud, and dont want influence your decision. I just wanted to offer up all the options that I can think of for ya.Click the image to open in full size.
