I'll keep you updated, and will probably pick your brain too again if you dont mind. I'm already into this about 3,500 bucks from seats/carpet/door trim/switches/window regs/lock actuators. So may as well keep pluggin along.
Well I've got a 2003 truck, so no GEM, should be VSM/KEM. Just didn't have the module cause no power options. The fuse panel the harness plugged right into. Has all the connections and everything in the fuse box already, just nothing going to it, now it does.
Have the body harness wired up and locks and windows in, ran rest of harness thru the dash and the piece where the vsm plugs into on the tranny hump where I can get to easy. Think I'm going to pluck out a friends KEM to see if it even wants to work and go from there. He has a lariat. Only difference between his and mine as far as electronics is the ESOF, climate control, overhead console, and its an automatic.
Going to shoot from the hip and see what happens. Ford is telling me it can't be done even if i switched harness and KEM/VSM from another truck... that like 15 other things has to be programmed... yet its done all the time by simple donor trucks with nothing like that. Go figure.
Hey there, reading your post about converting to power windows. Found myself in the same pickle. I bought a King Ranch harness just to find out I have no VSM, and probably needing other harness to boot. I know I need a VSM, and probably a dash harness. No trucks around here to just pull from so I'll have to order from a dealer. Do you think I could just get King Ranch harness and then the unused stuff wont hurt right? I wont be doing adj pedals or the moonroof or esof. But overhead console, windows, mirrors, seats, etc I will.
Coming from a bone stock XL. Manual trans, 4x4 floor shifter. No power anything. Already have the body harness ran and windows/locks in the door. The dash is ready to come out also.
