Hey man, I was going to ask you about how your truck does on mpg with the 46's? I'm considering buying a truck w/46's. I have a thread on it. If you don't mind, I'd love your input.
Hey oreocreaming, I read in one of your posts that you use a large "hot-rod" style air cleaner - like the kind that would fit onto a carb in an old gasser. I was thinking about doing this install too, instead of a cone filter and piping. Do you like it? Have you noticed a difference in your truck's performance or temps? Thanks a lot!
My name is Phil Negrete. I am a new member. Sent out a general post looking for a mechanic in the southern california are that is very familiar with the 6.9 liter diesel engine. Aune 163rd told me to contact you. I have a 1986 Ford Econoline Diesel Van. Bought it a couple of months ago in Ontario. Never heard it start. Previous owner said it was running but stopped because of a bad injection pump. I just purchased a remanufactured pump. Now I want to get it installed, change out all the injectors, the injector lines both the metal lines and the braided lines. Would also like to change out the glow plugs. I have already changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and air filter. Also changed the trans filter and trans oil.
Looking for someone who has a great deal of experience with this engine, just in case I replace all these parts and there is something else or some kind of specific trick to get the van back up and running. Any help would be great. Thanks
I'm way down in San Diego for the time being, but at the end of the month i'll be moving to NY... That's why i'm thinking i'm going to go ahead and do the mirrors, cause up in NY it's no where near as hot as it is here!
Ah, so you did have to remove/replace the wing window with the mirrors... I was afraid of that, because I live in Cali, and my truck has no A/C, so i use those windows religiously... but then again, i'm moving up to New York, where the temps should be lower, so maybe then it'll be alright... thanks again man!
ok, i thought they were bushwhackers, but i wanted to make sure! i'd keep your pics too, thats one sweet ride man! oh, i meant to ask you, how'd you get the SD mirrors to work with your truck? was there a kit or something?
