Hi,
I need to change the timing chains, tensioners, guides on my 2004 F150 3v 5.4. I'd like to discuss this process with you. I'd be willing to pay you for your advice as well. Please PM me back.

hello looking for some help...i am doing a engine pull on a 2003 expediton...i cannot get the driver side motor mount off....there is a long horizontal bolt that has loosened up but will not turn off...there is a weird nylon washer on the nut side....do you have any suggestions as this is the last part that i need to make the pull?
Hello, I am following your steps to install the timing chain and gears on a 5.4. The kicker is that I have gone to 4.6 pi heads and are not the same in any way. The old cams were a press on style and these are a keyway style. The left hand gear worked according to your posted procedure but there is no way the right will go. Any thoughts?
Own a 2003 Taurus. Mechanic died a few years ago and haven't found a suitable replacement.
Check engine light came on. My husband changed plugs, one broke off down low, had to bring it to a shop to be removed. Mechanic removed it, replaced other 3 plugs that husband didn't get to, then changed the coil.
Mechanic did test drive, said it had no power, put on computer, code for replace catalytic converter. He proceeded to replace the front converter, later said the rear one needed to be replaced, too.
We have spent almost $1,300.00 in repairs -- we can't afford. Check engine light keeps coming on, mechanic cleared twice already, saying sometimes it doesn't clear the first couple of times. Brought the car to him today, he said codes 303 and 316 were coming up, he'd research it and get back to us later.
We can't afford to keep sinking money into this car, but can't afford to replace it -- catch 22.
Hello,
I want to thank-you for all the info you have given me by replying to my posts on here. Do you like beer? What is your favorite kind of brew? I would like to send you via paypal enough money to buy yourself a 12 pack on me.
I see you have helped others with their Fords. Nice. I'll be helping my neighbor reinstall a timing chain (drivers side cassett) as the guide broke sending pieces thru the valve cover. He dropped the pan and fetched out some debris. We don't have a repair guide and Autozone has some pretty lame instructions online but could you send some pictures of what things look like in this engine. Are the timing marks aligned like the 4.6 liter v-8 are?....Tom
Longbed, I've got an FX4 with 72K miles on it. Was on the beltline over by Glenwood, got an audible alert to check guages and saw my oil pressure had dropped to zero. Took the Glenwood exit and was trying to pull off the road when the engine started knocking and stopped. The drainplug was still in place, and there was oil on the dipstick. Towed it to Capital and they said they couldn't even bar the engine over. They said it would be $1200 to pull the engine and look around to see what happened and it would be $6900 to install a rebuilt. It might as well be a million dollars, literally.
I'm looking for a good used engine to buy and to get it installed more economically than the dealer would. Any insights, guidance, and help would be appreciated. You mentioned that you do side work. What would you want to do the engine swap?

Sir, Thank you for the advise of the sharp punch to get the extractor out, i hope to get than done tonight. My other question is what is the best way to get debris that break off the plug tips out of the cylinder chambers? Greatly appreciate all your help.
