Big Lou's Big RigUpdated: 05-10-2013
my 1966 Ford F600 Fuel Tanker. The truck was used as a sign for two years when the Fuel Station it belonged to was sold and converted to a BBQ restaurant. The truck was repainted with the BBQ restaurant's logo and there it sat. I bought it from the man that originally owned the station as he didn't sell the truck to the restaurant, just lent it to them. I have been making repairs like, the fuel pump, oil filter housing adapter, oil pressure sending unit, Fuel tank sending unit, headlight switch, all running lights, and identifying the engine etc. It has a 332 FT V8 engine with a 2 barrell carbueretor. It has an eaton 2-speed 13802 rear axle. It's GVW is 17,000lbs. It has an NP435 4-speed (with granny gear 1st) straight drive. the wheelbase is 158" .I am not unsing the tank itself as fuel transport. I was planning to sell the tank body, but I like the way it looks so much I plan on converting it to a "walk" in service body. The tak is a model PL by Atlas Corp from Raleigh, NC. It has 3, 500 gallon compartments and a lockheed dispenser. The pump is made by Chelsea Corp of Detroit. I think that once I have converted the tank to an accessible enclosed storage area the truck will be more practical and retain it's classic 60's fuel truck persona. I plan to re do the signage on the sides of the tank to read: "Big Lou's BBQ", after my wonderful Pomeranian Lou-Lou seen pictured in the cab and on the hood of her "Big Rig."
