I am new to the forum and currently have a 2011 F250 6.7L. I have a problem with the HPFP, we found a lot ofmetal shavings. We currently have the truck taken apart, except the pump. I need to know how to time this pump, removal and replacement. Thank you. Please respond to jdelgado@allpowergenerators.com
NHTSA has escalated these pumps to Engineering analysis for defective design... many are waiting on their findings. there are some smart engineer types on TDI club that have lots of suggestions for design improvement to eliminate the shrapnel effect to the whole fuel system... that is the biggest design failure, destruction of everything down stream in the whole fuel system, look at your bill of Material for parts on your truck that they changed out, it will make you sick, the price of the parts... now imagine 7 to 10k fix it price on a diesel sedan that you paid 23 to 27k, for, it's 33 to 45% of the price of the vehicle new, add in a few years depreciation, and no warranty left, and if one of these goes, your vehicle cost more to fix than it is worth, in 4 or 5 years. That is a defective design, for certain.
Thanks for your support of my posts... hope you find a truck soon that doesn't give you this kind of grief.
I can assure you, soon, the insurance co's will be calling Fords bluff and folly on these Bosch pumps, but it will take time and multiple cases. Ironic that for VW's I don't think there is a single failure statewide in Michigan. Doesn't mean it hasn't happened there, just means no one with a computer that's an enthusiast has looked it up on TDI club and reported theirs, yet.
Really sorry you ended up the guinea pig and had this happen to you... I am afraid I've worn out my welcome here.... take a look at the last 20 pages of that 300 plus page nhsta pdf below if you need help or advice/ counsel.

This should give you a feel of what is going on, Bosch has foisted this pump on VW TDI's since 2009, and it's failed in every application.... 2.0 jettas, golfs jetta wagons, Audi A3's and the same model in the 6.7 Ford has failed in the V6 Touareg and the Audi Q7, NHTSA has all the documents and cases... http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/do...003-45604P.pdf
go to TDIclub.com, search HPFP failures. Anyone well versed in it has seen Bosch CP 4.X series HPFP's fail with alarming regularity... You need to file a complaint with NHTSA immediately.

Near the end, you will see pictures of the design failure by Bosch for the roller tophat not being designed to stay in alignment with the cam.... it is supposed to be self aligning, but it fails... the Delphi DFP6 design, patented in 2009, addresses this defective design by Bosch... not a round bore, but a square shoe foller for the roller, to keep it permanently aligned with the cam...
Get your HPFP pulled, and have some body open it up on the 2 heads for each fuel rail. When the guts come out, you will see one of the rollers worn, due to being at a 90, and grinding itself and the cam up, creating all the metal particles in your fuel system.
Hello Rick, Its Chris 60- I tow the same 09 3055 5th up here in Canada, & my order it about to get picked up (I've been waiting for ever, but this U.S. dealer is $3500 less than the others. so I'm tweaking things, I had chosen the 3:31 eld rear but am also choosing the 275/70 18 AT's. Are you pulling with 3:31's or 3:55's, what tire size do you have? I know you have mentioned how well it tows & I am wondering if I should switch to the 3:55 set up . thanks in advance!
