I have a 2000 F250 7.3. I’ve been running SVO in for about the last 100K miles. I have a two tank system, but over the last several months I have not been able to run on diesel. When I switch from SVO to diesel the truck falls on its face. It almost acts like it has a clogged filter.
I have switched things back and forth from where the fuel goes into the injectors all the way back to the tank just to cover all bases and I can’t find the problem. I’m starting to wonder if there is something going on with the injectors. On diesel at an idle the fuel pressure reads about 55-60 psi, but when I accelerate, it will sometimes drop all the way down to zero. If I leave it on diesel when I shut it off, it is hard to start the next morning. When it does start, it acts like I ran it out of diesel, clattering and working out the air. It never has these problems on SVO.
I’ve heard that you run SVO and thought that maybe you would have some insight into this problem.
hello i am new to this site but have been reading alot and have read quite a few of your post and it seems as though you have quite a bit of knowledge. i am going to be converting my 2001 ford e450 and my first question to you if you have time is....is if i put a radiator under an aluminum tank (instead of running heated tubing through it) would that suffiecently heat the oil? or maybe wrap all four sides and the bottom with pipping do the trick? i am of coarse talking about housing either scenario so that the heat from either source is concentrated to the tank. would this type of design (being heated from the engines radiator) get hot enough?
