There are a number of threads on converting from EFI to carb. I suggest you take some time and read through the Forum not just for the info you want but for a great education on the Ford I6 300.
Hey, you commented on my post the other day and I noticed you had a built up 300. Obviously mine is EFI but could you shed any light on what it would take to switch it to carburated and build mine up as well. Thanks!
Hello, I've been reading a lot of forums on here and noticed u know ur stuff. I am building close to the same setup as you but am hung up on the throttle cable. How did u get the cable to push the lever on the carb or did u wrap the cable around the carb and pull from the drivers side?
Truck driver...part-time and retired part-time. For me I would go with the 1500/4400. My Comp 260H is rated 1000-5000 (Beware of so-called "ratings"...mostly marketing hype) and it has been nothing but good from idle on up pulling the freight or just dinging around town.
Well, may be one reply. Think the Isky cam/kit (1,000 - 4,000 rpm) will give some good low end grunt? It's the 2nd 1 up from the bottom. Meaning there's 1 (may B stock) up to 3,800 rev, gas economy etc; next up is 1,500 - 4400 also economy mph; then 2 racers i'd guess up to 5,000 and 6,500 rmp w/ lopie idels. It's all new to me...weren't you a driver or engineer B 4 U got all this extra time? ;-}
Yo Dude!
'S up?
Ain't seen ya @ FTE 'cept the "does it pull" thread for awhile. Gettin too old? ;-}
Tryin to begin this (1975 250) Grenade-a build. Interesting part will be getting it low enuff in the bronk frame to clear the hood, not too low to hit the frame/frnt drive line. I'll figger it out (w/all the online helpers)!
Just checkin in. No need for reply.

It might mess up the burn characteristics and thus the computer unless he is going MegaSquirt or some other controller. One can clean up the intake and exhaust runners, smooth the short turn radius, etc., but I think the CC has to be left intact. Glad I'm a carburetor type. Electronic stuff is way over my head...I wear rubber gloves and boots just to change flashlight batteries.
Howard--have you seen the thread with the kid doing his head? He has an EFI and has completely unshrouded the valves and polished the intake runners, and is going to 'open up the intakes' more so he can install the t. body for a v8. Can you mess with an EFI head that way, especially the c. chamber?? I thought that was off limits.
