Is that the TBM at Pensacola? Pretty cool museum. Whent down there to see a girlfriend who was going to school there when I got a 96 hour Liberty from Camp LeJeune in I think '85 . The museum had a scoreboard of the hornet there. Pretty Impressive My dad was on CV10 about '54 '55 discharged from the Yorktown in Bremerton. I wish I went to see the Yorktown when I was in the Marines. A Gunny in my Battalion was in the decomissioning ceremony on the 10. My dad missed movement in Manila so they flew him to the ship on a Turkey. TBM's in the 1950's were used as shipboard
transports like the C2 Whales are used now.

Think this will work to re-shape an existing headliner?

(.......process involving ammonia to bend wood up to a 1/4" thick. Water and steam had been used to achieve limited flexibility when used with extensive mechanical force. Cellulose and the cross linking of it is what makes wood strong by using water molecules with the hydrogen bond on sites between cellulose chains. Ammonia is a scavenger of water and the idea was that ammonia would scavenge water, break the cross link bonds and allow the cellulose chains to slide over one another making the wood flexible. Extreme mechanical force is not needed and the effect is temporary. When the ammonia evaporates water vapor will reestablish cross linking and rigidity. Cardboard is cellulose.)

I like the idea, thanks for all your help!

    Hi tbm3fan,

I've been reading your posts about instalation of the headliner in the 65 (mine's a 66) Ford Pick-up, and I've found it to be ultra informative...thanks for the tip on Amonia and water for softening the board for flex...I'm going to tackle it later today.
    All the best,
    Jason

TB, I need to replace my engine mounts on my 66 F-100 352 engine. I don't have a engine lift. Some on the forum said I could put a bottle jack on the crank behind the front pulley to lift the engine, What do you think?

    Thanks
