Hello Mr. F6 Guy,
I was looking for info on old Dayton 5th wheels. I have a 1932 White semi with one that is shaped like a horseshoe, not circular like most fifth wheels. There is a similar fifth wheel on a 1932 Indiana brand truck at the Natmus Museum in Auburn.
The horseshoe shape does look like a butterfly as you mention it.
Could you send me pictures of your Dayton fifth wheel? I can send you pictures of my 1932 Dayton and also the Indiana fifth wheel. They are fairly rare as these are the only ones I've seen.

Hey I'm new here and don't know how to do PMs so this is the best I could come up with. I'm very interested in your spicer box though. Email me at email@example.com and lets see if we can work something out.
I noticed in a post a bit ago that you said you might have a fan shrowd hanging around. I have a 49 F1 I am just about done with but it had no shrowd and I want to avoid any overheating issues before they start. Do you happen to have a shrowd you are willing to part with?
