The fabrication work of your dash and console is very impressive, and inspiring.

Got the tag off my rear end. It has a W with a 41 over an 11. Does this mean it is a Dana 41? Thanks and I'm sorry for being a pain all the time with the questions but I know you will be truthful with me. Randy

Joel, I started with a 32" ididit column, but needed to shorten it to 30" for the wheel and adapter I'm using.. It depends on what steering wheel you use, dish depth, diameter, adapter thickness and how long your arms are. I'm using the leather covered Cragar 15" banjo wheel. I used the standard length Ididit hinged aluminum billet drop Mid Fifty sells (3 or 4"???) If the column is an aftermarket one, Ididit or Flaming river with a double D shaft, they are pretty easy to shorten. You will also need to buy or make a lower column floor mount. I bought the mid fifty Toyota floor plate cover, but had to weld up the brake pedal hole (I'm using hanging pedals) and modify the column slot to fit. I'd definitely get the wheel you plan on using and mount the seat at the desired height with the cushion thickness you will be using before deciding the exact column length, but unless you will be using a deep dish wheel, a 30" column (less wheel and adapter) will be pretty close to what you want.

Hey AX. Got some questions for you - I know you run the toyota box with an aftermarket tilt column, which is what I'm going to do as well, but what length of column did you end up getting? I've seen where you posted about having to shorten the column 2 inches in the end, but I've never found where you've posted the specific length before and after. Judging by your posts we're roughly the same size - I'm 6' 270 lbs. Also, what size of drop are you using with your column?

I know how everyone says to mock it up with a broomstick and pie plate, but I've found a really nice deal and I may be acting quick before I can take it all out and mock it up. It's a 32" chrome tilt and floor shift, and it comes with the 9 bolt steering wheel adapter making it 34.25" total length. Is this going to be way too long? I'll have my bench seat mounted all the way back against the back wall of the cab to maximize "gut clearance"

    Thanks!

CdnWillyG, Sorry, I can't help much with you fender running board alignment, I have a panel, so my rear fenders are not removable and my running boards are completely different

Hi Chuck, I need your wisdom!!
I have mounted some fibreglass fenders to my new bed and when I install the running boards on to the brackets they are about 1.5" low. When I do line them up with the fenders they match the bottom of the box great. Because I never had running boards on the truck when I bought it, is it possible that the rear running board brackets are different than the fronts or can these brackets get sprung to that degree?
One other question, when mounting these running boards to my rear FG fenders could I reinforce the fender with metal to carry any weight that might be on them?

Chuck: Is it possible to "formally" I.D. the Toyota truck model I need to obtain a steering gear from? I don't know squat about Toyotas and every internet parts site I visit wants more info about Model No/Name than I can provide. Thanks in advance. ( I don't know where your reply will go but I'm at dalefairfax@hotmail.com.

Hey Ax, the doors on my 1958 f100 are rusted through on the inside, outside, and bottom. I am thinking about buying a welder, teaching myself to weld, and forming the pieces I'll need. Is this realistic/possible. Is 350 for a lincoln electric 140 @ a local pawn shop a decent deal? Could I show you some pics of what I am dealing with. Thanks in advance, good sir,
    Robert

I'm looking at fordfuelinjection.com and would like to know if you have an opinion, good or bad, about their efi wiring harnesses.

Hi- I was reading thru some old posts and found you had some very good advice on lowering options for older F 100's. I have a '55 F 100 Panel Truck and have gotten mixed reviews on what type of front and rear lowering system to use. I have talked to just about all the major suppliers (Bobs F 100, Mid Fifty, Performance Online etc.) except Eaton. Some expressed concern over the fact my truck is a Panel vs. Pick Up. If you could offer any advice on multi leaf, rev. eye or dropped axle set ups it'd be great. I've been floundering with this for a while and like to make a decision. Thank you very much.
