hey raytasch,
was refinishing a tailgate this weekend and came across your post. my 1979 ford tailgate also contained 10 pop rivets that hold on the "FORD" sign. I'm guessing Ford did this so they would be harder to steal. i popped the rivets off with a flat head and am planning on screwing back threw the tailgate into mounting clips that i will add to the "FORD" sign and then covering the inside of the tailgate with a rubber liner.
