    Hey 460,

    First let me say I'm not very familiar with all the computerized components but, email me at gary.lv.nv@gmail.com and I can send you some images of the connector and what the pins are for. I can't find the paper with voltages that came with the new transfer case shift motor but for $100 I would just change it. I got mine from NAPA and the information came with it. Also, there were no trouble codes being thrown which to me indicated it wasn't the GEM. The relays seem to be in the GEM. One more thing, have your friend buy a Ford manual on CD from EBAY and it will guide you through the trouble shooting of this and many more issues. REally cheap to get.
