Have read several of your posts and seem to be an encyclopedia of the old fords. Bought a 79 stepside recently that has chrome lettering on the cab that states Custom Cab? What made a custom cab? Also noticed something missing behind the seat, middle of the cab just below the rear window, appears something was bolted here as there are two 1/2" retainer clips, any idea what is supposed to be there? Thanks for your time.

You can look at the driver's door where there is a tag attached to the door with rivets. This is called a warranty plate. It lists VIN and info regarding said truck.
DSO = District Sales Order. If the DSO is 71 or 72, it was sold new in CA therefore were required to be equipped with California emissions. It's different than Federal trucks with lesser smog equipment.
I'm asking because I may have the exact vacuum diagram straight from factory.
