Do you know where I can get the spring for the tensioner on a Ford 2300 Ranger engine? Part number would help?

No big problems, I'd certainly do it again, but be CAREFUL with the delicate wire connectors when removing the 1997 harness.

    Just review this post:

    '02 4.2 to replace '97 Hydrolocked engine - V6F150.com

The motor mounts are the same.

I read a post that you had put a 2000 4.2 engine in a 97 4.2 truck. Are there any big problems that you ran in to? I'm putting a one from a 99 in my 97. Are you motor mounts the same? I've never swapped any engine, so any advice would be great.

    thanks.

Install a used Tommy Gate liftUpdated: 06-03-2013
Tired of manual labor lifting heavy stuff into your truck? Used liftgates aren't hard to install. New installation bracket and hardware kits are reasonably priced (~150 bucks online) or you could fab your own. It's easy to see how a custom installation (like on a flatbed) would be easy to do. While I used a Tommy Gate, the theory can apply to similar systems. Tommy Gate has very good parts support so I wouldn't hesitate to get one I needed to work on. Wiring is very simple, and I'll add pics of that later. Installation instructions come with the bracket kits, or contact Tommy Gate (or their distributors) customer service. Harvesting: You can quickly pull a Tommy Gate from a salvage truck by removing the bolts shown. I used a 7-inch Norton abrasive cutting wheel in an angle grinder. Remove the bolts, push the gate onto the ground, and get a friend to help you flip it into your truck. (They are a two-man job to load.) Don't forget to get the electrical cable and underhood circuit breaker if fitted.

Misc views you don't see everyday to help with repair and parts pillaging. Look first and you may avoid breaking delicate plastic tabs. Most views are a 2000 F150. When you part out a truck, take pics! :)
