Bob, do you still have that F1 rear engine crossmember? You posted a picture of it in March. Someone hacked out my rear cross to hot-rod my '51 and now I am trying to restore it. - Dave

Hi, Bob, hoping you could help me with some info. I have a 1950 F2 that I decided to switch to a flatbed. The original bed was in very poor shape. I picked up a flat bed from a guy who was using it as a flatbed trailer. It's not a Ford bed.

My question: how is the flatbed attached to the frame. appears that the metal cross members of the bed attach to wooden boards that run parallel to and sit on top of the frame rails. I saw a couple of drawings on your website but it's hard to tell. How exactly do they connect to each other? Would you have any pictures of the underside you could share? I am not going for authenticity, just want to make sure it secured OK.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hey thanks for all the help so far.

I have a few questions you recommended getting a shop manuel which i agree 100% which one(s) would you recomend.

Also do you have an online links that would be helpful? Also for buying parts have anyone you recommend and the link if they have a site. Also we are both in the midwest is there any local parts stores like NAPA, advanced auto parts, etc...

1948/51 F-4 FlatbedUpdated: 08-09-2014
I bought this truck for parts but after looking it over, I decided that it is too nice to part out. We have named it Roger I later bought a '48 F-4. The '48 had a good cab and most importantly, a stock radio. I am in the process of switching the '48 sheet metal to the '51 chassis. The front clip on the '48 was hammered but I found another clip to use.
