    Hi Mark,
mine is a 150 as well, so same system. I would probably disconnect the switch just to be safe. Grounding the gauge input should peg the needle above full. You can also measure the resistance of the two sender units with the switch disconnected to test those. Search on the forum for wiring diagrams, I have seen some posted. Good luck, jim

Just seen your working on an e350 0f 1988 vintage I am working on my E150 of the same year and the fuel gauge for both duel tanks doesn't work, I have already founf the FR relay was bad and the wiring at the inertia switch had melted so have mended all that and have 10 - 12v now at the selector switch when I turn the key on. I was wondering if I could ask you how I can peg the fuel gauge without dropping the tanks to check if the gauge in the cluster is working, can I just simply ground the blue / yellow wire (pin 5) on the duel tank selector switch turn the ignition on and it should peg to full.? Assumin I would do this with the switch still connected and just shove an earth wore into the back of the switch on top of the pin 5 wire?
    many thanks
