    I had ford dealer install 1/2"line and remove inline filter. The transmission is running COOLER!!!!! Granted I took it up the mountain yesterday and it was only 73 degrees outside, my temp only got to 198 and that was after a 7 mile long steep incline going 25pm! Normally it would be around 220-230. HOWEVER, what the Ford Mechanic pointed out and I have never experienced until yesterday, was when it was above 190 and I came to a complete stop, my trans would slip for a second upon take off. It only did this starting off and not in any other gear. It did it 3 times only when temp was above 190. Any ideas?

    I did what you said to do and I now have my truck at the Ford axle seal leak. I had the tech look at trans and he took it for a test drive. He had temp go to 230 o hill going 30. He said that I shouldn't run my cooler line into radiator instead I should go straight to the 6.0 trans cooler and skip the radiator. He also said that I have 3/8" lines running from the trans cooler where I should actually have 1/2" lines when doing the upgrade. Also, Ford that put my 2nd and 3 rd transmission in installed a inline filter that is 2" in dia and 3" long between the trans cooler and my transmission. Ford tech said the small inline filter is causing a restriction problem. However I did the flow test you had me do and it passed.
    Please give advice on following:
    He is recommending 1. Remove the inline filter all together.
    2. Install aftermarket 1/2" lines with fire proof material
    3. Reroute cooler line to bypass Engine Radiator

    I am having a problem, hoping you would be able to help me out. 05/6.0/4x4 Having a transmission problem. Started having a 1-2 second stall into gear and clunking. Relearned it and it quit. Drove few more days and started shifting through gears faster than normal and excessively early tc lockup. Then went to leave early one morning and it just wouldn't go into gear it seemed. let it sit, shifted through gears with no luck, then it slowly fell in gear. Finally engaged and took off. no slipping, just earlier shifting and tc lockup. Parked it, checked fluid level. Let it cool and went to try again later. No matter what gear it is in, it tries to move forward. Even in park, enough to bog motor down. Will not even rev up. Truck will not roll backwards down hill in neutral unless engine is shutoff. The best answers I have found are tcc solenoid or torque convertor itself. No codes, Im hoping you can help me before I start spending unnecessary money.

    Mark you seem extremely knowledgeable on the 5r110. I have and F350 with 136 miles on her and recently took a trip to Florida from Iowa on the way back I noticed that when I applied the brake the antilock pump would push the pedal up for a few seconds then release. After I arrived home It sat for one day and I tried to drive it to work and the truck originally started fine then I let it sit and running as I ran into the store to grab something when I came out moved fine then all of the sudden it felt like something was holding it back there is no slipping of the gears or funny sounds coming from it. it had the codes P0762 and P2702as well as a TCM fault. I have parked it pulled the solenoid for C and it ohms correct and functions fine. It still goes in gear and has great power but will only run third. I am about to drop the valve body and to test all the solenoids. basically it feels like I am holding the brake when I try to move.

    I can't thank you enough for your advice. Yes it is a 4X4. Since it flowed more than a qt in 15 seconds that means the cooler isn't plugged (as you stated) but is it a possibility that the cooling fins of the engine radiator are clogged with dirt? Some of the fins are dented but not overly damaged. Should I try hosing the radiator out from engine side towards the bumper with a garden hose? The engine coolant temp (according to my scan gauge) is around 200 or 210 I think when the trans temp gets to 245. I havent ever noticed my coolant temp getting way hot.

    I understand the 4wd low option. Any thoughts on an aftermarket fan?

    Is it aq 4x4? If so you can reduce the trans temp by making the climb in 4x4 low. Getting to 245 isn't bad for the trans, it can take that and more. If it gets much hotter, that would be bad.

    You might just still need more cooling. If it flowed more than a quart in 15 seconds the cooler is not plugged. I've heard of people installing a water tank to spray water on the cooler when things get hot. That should bring the temps down quite a bit.

    I just did the 15 second bucket test. It flowed well over a quart in 15 seconds. Now what are your thoughts? New engine radiator? A secondary cooling fan?

    A new engine radiator might be the fix. I didn't say it wasn't. I did say flushing the radiator won't fix the trans problem, unless you were flushing the transmission portion of the radiator. And I'm sure you were not.
