    Ok thanks. The guy I bought the truck from said it had a new transmission with 25,000 miles with a triple disk converter and a shift kit. He said it was gettin real hot before he replaced it and now that this is happening and it's getting hot I thought maybe it's the same thing and that's what made me think it was something electrical. But I will have someone take a look at it.

    Hello hoping you can shed some light on my situation. Today after work I drove to the store put my truck in park and moved something from my truck to someone else's and left the truck running 5 minutes pass and I try to back out and it's like reverse is gone. I let it roll back and tried to go forward and it's barely moving I tried moving it from 1st to drive and no change. I finally got it slowly moving down the road then the transmission caught and drove but something was off and kinda slipping and there was no od. My aftermarket gauges stopped workin so I plugged in my edge programmer and the tft was 260 I pulled over and shut off the truck. Read my codes and they were p0478 p1212 p1211 p1783 p0741. I let the transmission get back down to 235 and finished my drive home. It got back up to 250 and was shifting perfectly fine.

    Hello mark through looking at the posts you seem to be the most knowledgeable and qualified for answering my question.Got a 01 f350 with auto trans 4x4 7.3..To go forward I got to push 3/4 the way down on gas to start off. Now if I drop down in 1st or 2ed has normal power, reverse has good power, so to drive I have to start out in 2ed and then drop in drive, still feels sluggish to me and shifts to soon so feels like and sounds like I'm always underpowered like I'm in to high a gear, only 89k on a 7.3 but I know it's pushed snow. So basically before I rip it out I just wanted to know if for some lucky chance it's something simple I've heard things about solenoids and things.Found a guy in PA who rebuilds transmissions and swaps gor yours&700 bucks for a working one. I know if I take it to the dealership time my tow it there and they look at it it's going to be around 500 off the bat so Will probably just switch..just wanted to reach out for a little advice On want to think it might be

    hey mark in having a issue with a recently rebuild 5r110. it will not shift into 3-5. it shifts very smooth 1-2,2-3. the kit came with a modified direct solenoid i replaced and also dropped the pan and installed the old one back. Reverse works fine and only codes that have appeared are p0730- ratio issue and p2700 application time.

    I try my best to stay away from. Had it towed up to the tranny shop that did the original work, 2 months ago, talked to them today they are thinking plugged transmission cooler lines. I just wouldn't think that could cause a transmission to not engage at all, I figure it needs to be torn down again cause something wasn't done right the first time. I was thinking it has to be something internal if it won't go into gear at all. If you have any advice on what could cause this type of issue I would really appreciate it I more than anything want to make sure they don't try and take me for any more money since I also got a 3 year warranty for their work and I need this truck to run good cause I have to basically live out of it for work in the upcoming months so I really want to make sure they don't just do a patch job and it gets fixed correctly this time. Thanks for any advice you can offer in advance. I apologize for this coming as 3 messages just wanted to give you the whole story.

    I finished all this up got the truck running again jumped in to put it into gear and nothing. The car won't go into gear at all I can run the shifter through the gears but none will engage. There is still throttle for all of them when I give I step on the accelerator not car won't budge. Occasionally Reverse won't even have throttle response when I step on the accelerator but some times it does. I tried every gear including 1 and 2 and did this is 4X4 and 2X4 no change.My question is, could I have caused this w/ the upgrades I did I never went near the transmission its one place

    Hi Mark, I have noticed that you seem to be the man that knows transmissions better than anyone on here. I was wondering if you could just give me your 2 cents when you have time, I would really appreciate it. I have an 2007 F350 6.0, it was having delayed engagement of the gears in the transmission to the point where I took it to 3 different shops 2 said they only did replacements and 1 said they would do the rebuild, I got it rebuilt. That was about 2 months ago. It worked good for about 3 weeks and than started running bad again tow/haul light flashing and threw codes for solenoid D. I parked the truck and did the upgrades on the engine that I had been putting off because of the original transmission issue. The upgrades I did were delete the EGR, new oil cooler, new dummy plugs on engine, deleted EGR cooler, HPOP kit, blue spring kit.

    I had ford dealer install 1/2"line and remove inline filter. The transmission is running COOLER!!!!! Granted I took it up the mountain yesterday and it was only 73 degrees outside, my temp only got to 198 and that was after a 7 mile long steep incline going 25pm! Normally it would be around 220-230. HOWEVER, what the Ford Mechanic pointed out and I have never experienced until yesterday, was when it was above 190 and I came to a complete stop, my trans would slip for a second upon take off. It only did this starting off and not in any other gear. It did it 3 times only when temp was above 190. Any ideas?

    I did what you said to do and I now have my truck at the Ford axle seal leak. I had the tech look at trans and he took it for a test drive. He had temp go to 230 o hill going 30. He said that I shouldn't run my cooler line into radiator instead I should go straight to the 6.0 trans cooler and skip the radiator. He also said that I have 3/8" lines running from the trans cooler where I should actually have 1/2" lines when doing the upgrade. Also, Ford that put my 2nd and 3 rd transmission in installed a inline filter that is 2" in dia and 3" long between the trans cooler and my transmission. Ford tech said the small inline filter is causing a restriction problem. However I did the flow test you had me do and it passed.
    Please give advice on following:
    He is recommending 1. Remove the inline filter all together.
    2. Install aftermarket 1/2" lines with fire proof material
    3. Reroute cooler line to bypass Engine Radiator
