It would be better installed through the firewall into the cab behind the dash somewhere to isolate it from the dirt and heat of the engine bay.. the PCM itself is not a sealed unit. Grab the gasket from a donor truck in a scrapyard if you can.

The stock exhaust system is restrictive overall but not because of it's size more because of the stock cats, whisper quiet muffler and how much the bends crimp down the overall tubing diameter. If you could replace all of it with a mendrel bent 2.5" single system you would see gains, and headers of any type will also help.

Have a 93 E150 351 EFI E4OD wheelchair conversion van, wondering if small enlargement to exhaust would help it? Is 2.5 up front into 2.25 now. Thanks for your help.

I'd swap the trans while you got it all apart.

I finally came across your post showing your exhaust set up, and its exactly what I want to do. If you have the time a have a question please: (will swap my 302 for 351) right now I have the Mazda 5sp which is in great shape, but when the 351 swap eats it up I'll swap for the HD 5sp out of F250, which is roughly 5" shorter than the Mazda. Can I rout the exhaust to accommodate both or should I just swap the tranny while the engines out in order to do the exhaust once? Thanks!
