    Hello Mark,
Had a very uncommon issue occurring to my early 2004 F250, well rather the 5r110 in it. I get a delayed engagement in drive but not in reverse and only when the trans fluid temp gets over 120 degrees and on initial startup. It won't re-occur once drive engages until I shut her off and turn her back on even 2 seconds later.

I posted the full detail breakdown in the below thread.

Your wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick responce. I was hoping for the broken snap ring but, you know that goes. I`ll put it back together and look at data again. thanks again for being on here to help!

Hi Mark. I have a 2005 f150 with over drive issues. Driving in over drive, at times, disengages and RPM's ramp up. OD feels normal up to the point of disengagement. If I turn the over drive off trany works just fine. Pulled the pan and valve body, fluid looked good, did not have a broken snap ring on the O/D servo. Had no codes. Scan tool showed both solenoids were on. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you in advance Johnny!

I currently have a 2003 4x2 Expedition with a 4r70w trans and I am looking to convert it to a 4x4. The one thing that I am not sure of, and hoping you might be able to help with, If i do the conversion using a 100% manual t-case (atlas 4 speed) will it throw the engines computer into a limp mode? The 4x4 version of my truck has a output shaft speed sensor in the transfer case, is that to recalibrate the speedometer when in four wheel low?

    Thank You,

Thanks so much for your quick response Mark. I had one other person suggest that and another suggest a solenoid pack.

I read a lot of your suggestions on other people's questions and must say, you're truly an asset to this and many other forums. Thanks for the selfless acts of kindness by helping us poor uneducated folks.

Good morning/afternoon Mark. You seem to be the guy to talk to regarding transmissions. I would really appreciate your insight to a problem I'm having.

    I have a 2001 Excursion 7.3l 4X4 with 190k.

Problem: no reverse, no 2nd or 3rd gear, no CE light no flashing OD light. Truck will run in 1st gear only and coast when you let off the throttle, but wont shift. I have a Attitude w/Juice tuner and I can program one of the gauges to show the gear I'm in and if the TC is locked. When I drive the truck down the street, the gauge shows it to be shifting into 2nd and 3rd but the truck is still in 1st and coasting, and TC never shows lock.

Did the normal check fluid and its full and not burnt. Checked in all gears and still nothing.

I thought maybe a pump would be causing these symptoms from low pressure not being able to close the reverse band and actuate the shifting solenoids but I'm just not that educated in AT's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks in advance.

Hey Mark I am new to the forum but have been all over the sight trying to figure out my truck. I have a 02 Ford Ranger XLT 4wheel drive, 4.0 liter, with 158,000miles on it. I had no problems at all with it till recently. I go out to go to work and it shifted fine into first and second gear but when I go to get on the highway I find that it revs all the way to 3500 to 4000 before it shifts into drive but will not shift into overdrive and my O/D light starts flashing. I now have a check engine light on as well so I take it to the shop to put it on the computer to see what they tell me. I am told it's the output sensor on my tranny. Well I buy the part but can't get the size for the bolt right to get the old one out. I have tried a 10 n 8 mm but won't work so I am at a loss here any help would be appreciated thanks. You seem to have a lot of valuable input it would be much help any words of advice

    Hello Mark,

You are a highly sought after guys I am hoping that you might have some insight. I have a 2006 5r110 with only 40K on it. Every time I pull the dipstick out to check it, it is covered in a debris. The debris is magnetic and resembles coffee grounds. Do you have an idea as to what may be causing it? I put pictures up over on this thread: Thanks in advance.

    Mark, I'm back.

    My original post:

    I have a 2004 Excursion, 6.0L V8.

I replaced (today) the #2 solenoid, and am still getting the P0976 code while the P0755 went away. I've googled and googled and what little I can find specific to this is saying a possible harness issue...

Well, I replaced the harness today. P0976 came on again. This was the only code again. My buddy watched a real time diagnostic of the solenoids. It appears that B was constantly engaged/doing something. Shifting through the gears the other solenoids would engage accordingly.

Solenoid B is brand new, as well as the internal harness. I'm completely at a loss. Possibly between the PCM and the transmission somewhere?

ETA: I just read in the TorqShift Transmission Troubleshoot thread that each solenoid gets 0-1 amp or 1-0 amp respectively. I believe that is what my buddy was seeing on his reader. A was 1, B was staying around .13 when in drive. The rest were 0. Not sure if this helps.
