    hey
I added the following to thread re:fuel leak in my dad's truck but wanted to ask you-your advice really helped>I managed to replace the lift pump but fuel is still leaking from the same spot-at the bottom of the lift pump where the metal fuel line that runs up to filter goes into the pump. The only thing holding the line in place is a threaded piece that screws into the pump around metal line. Is there supposed to be a rubber seal, ring, something @ this spot (the bottom of pump)? Dude@ local Ford place said there should be a seal @top of line @ filter, not @ bottom. Metal fuel line is flared @the end going into pump. Might this flared end be worn down &therefore not sitting properly? If it is worn, it's worn evenly as I can't see/feel any nicks. I thought the line itself may be bad but don't see any leaks anywhere on the line-only from where it goes into pump.Guy @ local Ford place said that fuel line is 'obsolete' Any suggestions for stopping the leak or a substitute fuel line?

Any brand of MERCON or MERCON V will work fine. The filters are the same at the Ford dealer and the parts stores. If you have the rubber gasket it is reusable and MUCH better than the cork gasket that usually comes with a filter.

Here's how to do it: Changing ATF Fluid in a E4OD and 4R100 transmission .: Articles
The article needs updating because MERCON V has replaced MERCON, though sometimes you can still find MERCON fluid.

The cooler from a 6.0L truck is the best cooler you can get. You only need to improve the cooling if you are seeing over 200°F often,
