Ok, my son found on the other side (driver side) on top of frame what appears to be the VIN. The title says 87HT29396, the truck shows * 87 *29396 * ?? Thanx.

the stamp is very light, you will have to strip the paint off to find it. Best to use a wire brush. I know that they used to stamp the frames in 3 spots but I am unaware that they continued that with the trucks starting in 48.

well after searching high and low, I cannot find the serial number. It appears someone painted the frame and there is no #. I've check everywhere. I have pics of the transmission top, etc. no luck. Inside of engine compartment there is a metal tag, but cannot be read. I've heard there are serial stampings under the cab, but I can't take it off.

If you are talking about the serial number, it is stamped on the passenger side frame rail, near the motor mount.Click the image to open in full size.

Got the truck the seller was a jerk. He supplied no keys, and both the brakes and clutch pedals go to the floor with no resistance. The parking brake works great. I haven't had any time to really check it out. But I have many pictures. Where do I post them? I know some forums limit the size and qty of pictures. Thanx again.
