Info for Mac J-4th gen is 61-66, 5th gen is 67-72, I am all about a (none high boy) 6th gen 73-79. With the 78/79 being the best of the best IMO. Both p/s (newer p/s design) and p/b with front disk. C-6 auto or the NP-435 manual are tough transmission, standard is cheaper to do self repair work on.

Work on getting your Pm (private message) option going with 10 thread post's/replies and then you should have that ability. That way we can PM, besides there is a 1000 text limit on here. I know it takes a bit to figure out the system on here. I have more input and answers to your questions.

Ok, I'll start w/ basic questions. Looking at 4th and 5th gen trucks. Need one to leave at my cabin in the mountains. No show winners, but I need good brakes, dependable starting, and a good heater. Leaning 5th due to power steering and brakes. Prefer manual to autos, but will take either. LIKE the look of the "Highboys" a LOT.
    1) what are some common pitfalls with the 73-77s that I should be aware of?
    2) are there features that I'll have to pay a premium for that are not really necessary; e.g. high vs. low pinion, Dana 60s f/r vs. 44s, 460 engine?
    3) I've driven a '79 flatbed in my distant youth. Crew cab. 351M engine. That thing was a HUGE dog! No power and sucked gas. What engine(s) would you recommend I look for and look to avoid?
    4) If parts are swapped, e.g. a '76 body onto a '77 chassis, any particular gotchas?
    5) Finally, what questions SHOULD I be asking you? And any sellers that I encounter.

    Thanks!

    - Mac

That's as vague as can be, sorry. Hope they make sense.

Hello. Brand new here. You seem to have amazing knowledge (and passion) about the mid-70s F250s. I'm in the market and have a few questions. Would you mind helping me out? My name is Mac and I live in Longmont, CO. Thanks for your time.
